Ranting here, spawned by an acquaintance who got caught up in the 'politically correct machinery' a few years ago and suffered the consequences :(.
It's supposed to be about the animals, right?
Wrong.
It's apparently more about being politically correct. It's apparently more about avoiding being slammed with ARist propaganda by jumping on their bandwagon. It's about making sure that breeders no longer breed. Anything. Ever.
It's certainly not about the human situation that brought a need for rescue help into the picture. It's not about the current economy that's forcing people out of their homes. It's not about an aging population that is requiring more adult children to care for elderly parents.
And it surely isn't about 'There but for the grace of God go I'...
No, it's all about judgment. Gods forbid that anyone actually need help when they find their personal situation changed. Because the situation doesn't matter, what happened doesn't matter, needing help doesn't matter. Giving 'them' the opportunity to say "You're not a 'responsible' pet owner/breeder/whatever and if we help you you're going to do what we say now." is apparently what really matters. By all means let's make sure that we look good to 'them' and avoid their censure, let's not worry about the animals that are caught up in the human crisis, they're just collateral damage...
A control issue? For appearance' sake?
Passing judgment, putting forth your own agenda, adopting the agendas of others to avoid their notice.
Who was it that said something to the affect that the temper of a nation can be judged by how they treat their animals? What does it say about us when our animals are used as weapons against those who love them by those who hate them?
