How to Keep a Job

Rate: 20 Flag

What with the economy showing faint signs of life while job growth remains stagnant, I thought it might be nice to share a little advice on how to hold onto a job.  "But Shaggy," you may be asking, "what the heck do you know about keeping a job?  Do you think your superiors are going to be happy to learn you read Open Salon on the clock?"  Well, okay, I'll admit, I'm no professional career counselor, but I learned from the best.  I'll leave it to the good folks at Coronet (surprise!) to give the hearty, wholesome advice.

I have a whole YouTube channel of these videos (if you're interested, my account name there is also shaggylocks), and most of my videos don't get a lot of hits. I posted this one yesterday, though, and it got over 200 hits in less than 24 hours. That may not seem like much, but I'm usually lucky to hit double digits in one day. Seems like I've uncovered a winner...
They're all winners, Shags. Welcome back.
Love those old Coronet films. Thanks, shaggy.
As I am reading this in work (I always think how unfair it is they expect me to work to get paid around here ) I can relate with the movie.
Gosh, all I need to do is 'set my mind to it'. If I'd only known?

Glad to see you around!!!
Ah, Coronet! Where would we be without their movies? My life was never the same after watching "Are You popular?" and "How to Be Well Groomed".
This is just marvelous....xox
I remember seeing these on the big screen. Eek. Nice to see you back.
Where was this post at the end of April when I could've used it? Good to see you.
hilarious and sad and partly honest a;ll at once r. and yes good 2 c u !
i'll be back to check this in a bit. just wanted to say: it's great to see you around here.
Call me crazy, but I really like the sincere, well-scrubbed wholesomeness of it all!
I recall when I thought this was applicable across the board. That was before I learned (the hard way) it's sometimes an office superior who doesn't share your work ethic or honesty and that corporate culture can be built on nefarious principle.

Rated.
I love it! My two oldest children have Asperger Syndrome so they actually watch the Coronet films as the holy grail how to live their lives. My retro children are a bit starched for our decade but its better to be a little too formal than no clue at all!.

Thanks! Your channel is a hit with the Aspie community!
"Eager beaver..." Bwahaha! I don't know if being one will help you keep a job, but it will probably make you popular in other ways.
I don't know why, but this reminds me of the "Reefer Madness." If you haven't seen the original of that one you might seek it out. It's a hoot.
I've been "re-trenched" before ... I "couldn't help thinking I couldn't amount to something"... a "meager beaver" - so I got a government job. Not only did I get to huff the fresh mimeographs but 24 years later I got a pension! I always made sure we didn't run out of office supplies. Thanks, Walter!
