Advertising, Science, Innovation - "A Day Made Of Glass"

Rate: 10 Flag

Taking a break from all things political is not easy, we are a nation, a world in flux. People are the living, breathing, thinking, beings that make the world what it is now or what it might be. We are the ones who help stretch the existence through science and imagination. We are the ones who with the slightest bit of unleashed negative emotion can destroy ourselves and our world.

I am in a place where Star Trek has always looked pretty good, like an ideal in fact. Harmonius existence with all kinds of beings, in all kinds of worlds, still some enemies or those who are not quite on board, but a more united way, a different existence, one focused on respect, well being, and perhaps innovation. A grand kind uptopia, but every year of my life, it seems we get closer. Oh, the politics and wars reign, through the base greed and negative desires of men, but still science moves forward and innovation has not been crushed.

In my life, now in the second half, it is  a case of time speeding things up, new technology is constantly changing the scenarios. I just saw a commerical in fact yesterday for Best Buy that was about them buying back your purchase when new technology, coming so quickly, makes it obsolete. Who knew?

So now today, something I got in an email, which is literally too cool not to share. It is from the Corning Glass Company, but it isn't your grandmother's Blue Cornflower cooking casserole dish, nor the French White, but Corning, it is!

I saw that Best Buy ad and was shocked but I have no technology to give them..:)
rated with hugs
Linda: There is so much cool stuff in the world, if we could just treat each other as if we all deserved to experience it.....ah well that must be what Utopia is and what of course cannot be due to the very nature of man, but one can dream. I can hardly keep up with all the new technologies. Fortunately my kids and husband are very tech orientated. I find the simple things complex. It has something to do with how I learn I think. Thank you for visiting me today!
Heehee. I remember my first television in 1949. A metal box with an 8" screen. The RCA "Anniversary" model. We were the second family on our block to get one.

Seems like only yesterday! / R
Torrito: I know, I know. I am remembering how important a transistor radio was to everyone. Also, the first color TV. I now understand how my parents felt when they got a car, when their transportation had been street cars.......
I'm tongue-tied. That just made me feel 20 years older!
Scanner: I know. I was dating a guy in the seventies who was in NY he told me that someday there would be picture phones and we could then see each other via phone and talk. I felt like he was saying I was going to walk on the moon, and look what happened....it is incredible. Yes, I feel very old and these kids of mine really make me feel obsolete sometimes. I don't know how to text, oh, I have been shown, but I am not too technical and it seems a mystery, fortunately my husband does, so now they all do that too. It is amazing how fast you can get out of the loop on stuff too. Ha.
The mundane, the everyday, is the essence of life. Even when tedious, it merits our attention. The smaller the focus, the more there is to learn.
Leon: Thanks for visiting!
Ta -Da -Ta- Da. . . I hear lines fro "Fahrenheit 451" (Ray Bradbury) Moving sidewalks, wall-to-wall TV screens, end of printed books... Scaaaarry !!
♥R
Father makes breakfast, Mom is able to go shopping w/o the kids, the kids are ready for school, dressed themselves and are not arguing!!!
Oh, I am so ready for the future...
Fusun: Yes, amazing changes right around the corner, some we don't even know about yet I am sure!

Vanessa: Yes, a miracle!! Hahahaha. Mine are in college, but there was a lot of Daddy doing around here....Thanks for stopping!
Remember the line from the song "2525" ? -- our arms hanging by our sides, our legs have nothing to do. Some machine doing that for you.
We are getting there, slowly but surely.
frightening and way cool
I'm glad Corning is keeping up with the times. They are a upstate NY company. So many have gone under. R

Also: this post is really cool & hardly no one has read it. Just did.
A. Walrond: Yes, kind of scary.

Greg Correll: I keep thinking of all the changes we have been through, both scientifically and politically, can't turn back the clock on either, both would have some very rough consequences.

Sheba Marx: Yes, it is good to see something continue on that provides some stability to an area. Thanks also for the tip about the butterfly post.
