The New York Times has announced that Charlie Sheen is fired from 'Two and a Half Men'.
Well, isn't it about time??? It is clear perhaps that he has some mental health issues, as commented on by various observers, educated observers of this sort of thing. There are issues with drug use, alcohol and prostitution. What made him hang on this long? His star power? His acting ability? If you have watched the show since its beginning, I think you might draw some of the same conclusions I have about it. It was funny for a while, entertaining in fact. Then it just sort of fizzled out, it got crasser and crasser, stupider and stupider and I often felt that the writing was reeking of reefer or skittish on cocaine. It was edgy but not in a good way, more like a shock value kind of way. It went from slightly realistic to outright bizarre.
I didn't think it was all about Charlie and his issues, but maybe it was, maybe they were working with someone who did well with the more outrageous format, I don't know. I think he had a lot of star power and I think he enjoyed using it.
It is not a bad thing that this show has ended. What is a bad thing is the state of Charlie Sheen. A bad thing for his children, a bad thing for his family and a if he could realize it, a very bad thing for him as a human being. I don't enjoy watching people disintegrate before my eyes. I hope that now that he is off the show, he can repair himself and his relationships with those who do love him and care about him, oh, and I am not thinking about the people he pays to like him either.....

You are right that it went downhill but I cannot see Jon Cryer carrying that show.
as for the media you are so right.. let it go.
rated with hugs
As for media getting away form it, I think this thing is going to be mined for all its salacious worth. I hear Sheen has created an internet talk show which he does from his house, and his twitter following has surpassed two million. Can a reality show be far behind, if not conventional TV or movies? And if it is the latter three, they want the freak show, not healing. I am rooting for your wishes though. I share them.
On a related note, the Times this morning had an article about Tom Arnold, an ex-druggie who now devotes some of his time to helping Hollywood addicts, getting rebuffed in his attempt to help Sheen by the enablers who surround Charlie and don't want to disrupt the gravy train. I have a feeling this won't end well, and I feel sorry for his father Martin, who seems like a good and loving man.
Joan: Yeah, and he doesn't look to good either. Physically, I mean, kind of gaunt and sleepless, like he is not really well.
What is also interesting that he didn't get suspended, then fired for the drugs, the alcohol or the prostitutes. Nobody gave a damn about that.
His big mistake was attacking his boss publically.
THAT was the big no-no. / R
As far as Charlie Sheen, he's a grown man with children who will see their father misbehaving and gloating about it, he really should know better.
Toritto: Yes, that will get you fired everytime, in the case of whistle blowers it is a matter of moral conscious and you face what hand you are dealt, in his case, it was sheer stupidity.
l' Heure: I felt it has not been a good show for a very long time.
Foolish Monkey: Ditto!
Oryoki: Agreed!
