Charlie Sheen FIRED From Two and a Half Men

Rate: 18 Flag

The New York Times has announced that Charlie Sheen is fired from 'Two and a Half Men'.

Well, isn't it about time??? It is clear perhaps that he has some mental health issues, as commented on by various observers, educated observers of this sort of thing. There are  issues with drug use, alcohol and prostitution. What made him hang on this long? His star power? His acting ability? If you have watched the show since its beginning, I think you might draw some of the same conclusions I have about it. It was funny for a while, entertaining in fact. Then it just sort of fizzled out, it got crasser and crasser, stupider and stupider and I often felt that the writing was reeking of reefer or skittish on cocaine. It was edgy but not in a good way, more like a shock value kind of way. It went from slightly realistic to outright bizarre.

I didn't think it was all about Charlie and his issues, but maybe it was, maybe they were working with someone who did well with the more outrageous format, I don't know. I think he had a lot of star power and I think he enjoyed using it.

It is not a bad thing that this show has ended. What is a bad thing is the state of Charlie Sheen. A bad thing for his children, a bad thing for his family and a if he could realize it, a very bad thing for him as a human being. I don't enjoy watching people disintegrate before my eyes. I hope that now that he is off the show, he can repair himself and his relationships with those who do love him and care about him, oh, and I am not thinking about the people he pays to like him either.....

Warner Brothers announced Monday that it had fired Charlie
Sheen from his hit comedy "Two and a Half Men."

The terse official statement read, "After careful

The studio, which owns and produces the series, will decide
about the future of the show at a later date, a spokesman
said.

Okay, not your hard hitting news story of the day, but you know, I am glad this is over. Now maybe the rest of us can move on and Charlie can get better. My wish is that the media lets go now, and instead of going in for the complete kill, lets the wounded walk away. There are so many people, young people, old people, who are addicts and have issues, when we put them up in front of everyone and try to make sense of their drug induced realities, I wonder who is the sick person....us or them? Good bye Charlie, I hope you get some help that you can accept, be well.
I am glad it is over too but honestly i cannot see the show continue without him.
You are right that it went downhill but I cannot see Jon Cryer carrying that show.
as for the media you are so right.. let it go.
rated with hugs
Linda: As I have seen in just pictures of him lately, he really does not even look well. I feel very bad for him, I think he is coming from a place of addiction and possible psychiatric issues. I kept noticing things on the show that I felt were a change in him since it first began and I could not put my finger on it, then as time wore on it was in the news, then it seemed to get a lot worse. No one's addiction is a good thing, ever and if it causes or aggravates a psychiatric condition, then how can we call anything they are doing entertainment? Not sure anyone can. Thanks for visiting.
I hear they have John Stamos already writing in the wings. We shall see!
scanner: I heard that too, and frankly I like that guy, so if so, I would definitely watch. I think Charlie burned out some time ago and I feel like it is okay to let him go, he was actually making the show seems less like entertainment and more like crazy. They were really pushing it on some the segments and it was falling flat, the nuances of the humor were getting banged on so hard, it was embarrassing.
YAY for John Stamos!!! WOOOO!! :D
Tink: I know, it might be really great!
Sheen seems to have way more important problems than just work. It is unfortunate that kids are involved.
Catherine: That is my opinion too. I really feel for those kids and hope they are being cared for by someone who loves them and is in good mental and physical health. Maybe their grandfather or something. They are going to need some loving care.
I'm with you, Sheila. I dont want to see Sheen go the way of Anna Nicole Smith, Michael Jackson, and so many others.

As for media getting away form it, I think this thing is going to be mined for all its salacious worth. I hear Sheen has created an internet talk show which he does from his house, and his twitter following has surpassed two million. Can a reality show be far behind, if not conventional TV or movies? And if it is the latter three, they want the freak show, not healing. I am rooting for your wishes though. I share them.
Since I was offline all afternoon, your post was the first I'd heard of this. It was sort of inevitable. He wasn't just burning his bridges, he was dropping a nuclear bomb on them.

On a related note, the Times this morning had an article about Tom Arnold, an ex-druggie who now devotes some of his time to helping Hollywood addicts, getting rebuffed in his attempt to help Sheen by the enablers who surround Charlie and don't want to disrupt the gravy train. I have a feeling this won't end well, and I feel sorry for his father Martin, who seems like a good and loving man.
Bill: Thank you for stopping by. I am of the mind that all this media stuff is almost eclipsing reality as we knew it, between the fake news, crazy leaders, actors and actresses and their realities or lack of, illusions of politicians and their power. I think we are over saturated with shock value and actually spending time trying to figure out what is basically irrational. We haved morphed into sound bite listeners and they seem to be turning up the din a million times over. Sometimes I think it is clever subterfuge to prevent us from focusing on the things we need to.
Cranky: I agree with you. I had heard about Tom Arnold and what he was trying to do too and the reaction to his help. It reminded me for some reason of Michael Jackson. No one wants to upset the apple cart of money, they might not then get theirs. It is almost inhuman how people are still seeking to feed his whim, but they are really just exploiting him. Very said for the people who love him. Very sad indeed.
I never once watched the show so can't judge on point, but I think Sheen is crazy like a fox. To me, his behavior smells like publicity stunt stew. I agree that it's unfortunate to have small children involved, but I can't help wonder how much of his behavior is an act. Maybe he wanted to get fired from the show to reset his career. Look at him now, he's the talk of the town. I predict an upcoming televised reality/radio show followed by some film roles, perhaps?
It was a good show. I don't know what to say about Charlie Sheen. He's a mess. ~r
bluestocking babe: He has apparently been in rehab several times throughout his life and in fact his dad has done more than one intervention with him. I am not really sure how much control he has over himself right now, or if he is being manipulated by the people around him who are helping him stoke his drug and alcohol abuse.

Joan: Yeah, and he doesn't look to good either. Physically, I mean, kind of gaunt and sleepless, like he is not really well.
Sheila, it will be interested to see how the television actors union deals with this...it will no doubt go into mediation...in the world of entertainment...not very much is just over...xox
Robin: Maybe, but this has been going on two weeks I guess, so maybe it is over, who knows?
Charlie's got serious problems.

What is also interesting that he didn't get suspended, then fired for the drugs, the alcohol or the prostitutes. Nobody gave a damn about that.

His big mistake was attacking his boss publically.

THAT was the big no-no. / R
Personally I found the show became dull fast, perhaps the writers are all the characters. Two self absorbed brothers, a self absorbed child, self absorbed mother, self absorbed ex-wife, self absorbed housekeeper and they're all busy being mean to each other. I've worked with enough people like that the last decade to have my fill of it. I did like the beach house but it wasn't enough to hold my interest.

As far as Charlie Sheen, he's a grown man with children who will see their father misbehaving and gloating about it, he really should know better.
The bummer right now is that every news outlet is running his face, his making out with his "goddesses", his photo ops with ex wives and kids, his rants. They aren't doing the proper shunning he needs, just fueling the fire of his narcissism. He'll get a book deal, he'll get a reality tv show, he'll keep making millions. What a f***er.
Bonnie: Outstanding information, thank you for posting it here!

Toritto: Yes, that will get you fired everytime, in the case of whistle blowers it is a matter of moral conscious and you face what hand you are dealt, in his case, it was sheer stupidity.

l' Heure: I felt it has not been a good show for a very long time.

Foolish Monkey: Ditto!

Oryoki: Agreed!
The media saturation is incredible. The media is an idiot and so is Charlie. I don't think he's that mentally ill- just a jerk without perspective.
fernsy: I really don't know what to think about his actual mental health. I think time is going to tell what that is really about for him.
Poor Charlie! He reminds me of the sketches where the guy keeps leaving messages on a answering machine. They keep getting worse and worse as he tries to explain himself!! ~rated
Susie: Good way to put it! Thanks for stopping!
Time to move on, but cable news will not move on...
Patrick: You are so right, thanks for stopping.
I feel sorry for his kids. I wish this could be a reality check for him, and motivation to seek help, but that seems unlikely.
Bike: I agree, I have the sense that the days ahead are not going to be good for him.
