This is a spring visit to the University of Munster and their Botanical Garden. This garden is university owned and managed, but open to the public free of charge. My son took a day trip here with his friend last weekend. I thought you might enjoy the visit to this beautiful garden too! Enjoy!

Detail of the main building, with bell tower.
This is perhaps my favorite view.

Laid out gardens.

I liked the organic fence here.

There is nothing like afternoon sun spinning through the trees.

Here is the sign which explains the garden and news. There was also an iron sign which said, no dogs, etc.

Buildings, green houses and gardens.

This looked like part of a rock garden, almost Japanese.

A lovely pond which did have some koi fish in it.

Along a path with daffodils.

Beautiful, these kind of Magnolia blooms always remind me of Spring.
Another beautiful view.
More pathways, buildings and labeled plants.
"The garden is an academic facility belonging to the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and is not a public park although it is open to the general public. It provides scientific research and studies. (The Student) By his especially close to nature creation and adjustment, he is able to illustrate the topic of the biodiversity and to mediate. Due to cooperations with nature conservation authorities and nature conservation organisations he is also active in his other sphere. The activities of the garden is orientated by national and international action criteria (CBD, ABS, IPEN etc.). Also, you may enjoy it as an oasis of peace and recreation where you are able to discover and enjoy nature and which is located just in the centre of Münster. This website informs you about individual areas and main fields of research of the garden, as well as providing you with informations on guided tours, events and exhibitions which take place regularly." from the university website translated from the German.

botanical gardens are so necessary, a source of beauty and green in our constantly changing cities, spaces of peace
toritto: Yes, the boys spent 12 hours on their feet that day, combing the city. They had a punch left on their rail pass and decided to use it the last day it was good.
scanner: You are so right. I will be tasting some of that beer soon!
vanessa: Yes, you are so right. These kinds of spaces bring peace to the soul, almost as much as house of worship might for some.
Zanelle: I thought it was lovely and it had a wrought iron gate to it too!

GH: Thanks for stopping by!
Thoth: Thanks for visiting! We are all waiting for spring!
