An Open Letter: Airing My Decision

Dear Friends,

First off, I would like to thank you all for your patience over the last few weeks. I realize there has been much speculation lately on my future, and even I am amazed at the interest you have all taken in this circus.  It is true that I currently am indeed being pulled in many different directions, yet I can see the upside to the many different options and opportunities that are coming my way. It has been a stressful time for myself and my family, and it has caused many many hours of reflection and pondering.

Therefore, I am pleased to announce that I will be hosting an hour-long special tonight on ESPN2, in which I will formally announce my decision regarding my future dinner plans: tacos or chicken nuggets.

Truth be told, there is much to be said for both of these outstanding options. In fact, this has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to  make, and believe me, it is not one I have entered into lightly.

On the one hand, tacos are quite a delicious choice. They are crunchy, filled with juicy meat and sauce, and can be topped with a dollop of sour cream. As everyone knows, pretty much anything spicy is made even better with a dollop of sour cream. If I go the taco route, the possibilities truly are endless - soft shell, hard shell, stand up shell, flour tortilla. I could go on and on.  Did I mention shredded cheese? Show me something that's not improved with shredded cheese.

On the other hand, some days just cry out for chicken nuggets. They are comfortable, tasty, and a time-honored tradition. Some have made the arguement that the nuggets are a better fit - they are much more flexible. I could enjoy them with tater tots or beans. They can be dipped in various sauces - BBQ, buffalo, honey-mustard. They can even be stacked - the list of stackable food is surprisingly short. I concede they have a versatility that is almost unmatched.

You can see the quandry I have found myself in. As I said, this has not been an easy decision, but I truly do believe that I have chosen the right path. I have nothing but the utmost respect for both of these fine food options, and I hope that once this has all settled down, all involved parties will come to the conclusion that I have, and it was made from a place of honesty and love.

In the meantime, I ask that you respect our privacy in the hours preceeding the special. I will be available for statements following the special, but for only 10 minutes. I will want to jump immediately into my new future, and it takes awhile for the oven to heat up.

Love & Kisses,

StW

Wow... That's so so, exciting! Truly a choice for the ages. You COULD have one for lunch and the other for dinner and save yourself all that angst....

I feel so inadequate. All I'm having for dinner is tempura squash blossoms followed by barbecued lamb chops with asparagus and a nice salad. Tedious, I know, but what can one do? It all depends on who does the shopping for the week and last week, that was The Boy.
My life is so dull compared to yours.
I feel for your Sheldon. Sometimes life is too full of options and knowing which path to take can be troubling and stressful as your post has shown. I am thinking the tacos, made with horse meat, would be a proper, sensible and somewhat profound choice. I hope you will someday find real peace and serenity.
What time's the special?! Quick, before I wet my pants!!
I am so happy you wrote this. I was biting my nails in anticipation. This was WONDERFUL, hilarious, made me LOL right here in the public library People are looking at me funny. r
I for one think any unnatural shaped food is... well, Unnatural...
Even with all the sauce choices. They taste good, don't get me wrong!
But Tacos... Now there is a meal that you could have every night and never have the same thing twice!
Meat Cheese Lettuce Tomatoes SALSA for heavens sake, green salsa red salsa, pico de gallo, avocado...the choices on salsa alone are endless!
Then there are the permutations of meats! Chicken, Beef; chopped, ground, chunks, stewed, grilled... Lamb, Buffalo, FISH...OMG fish tacos are amazing, with a creamy tangy cilantro-y coleslaw...and yummy spicy salsa...Yummm....
Truly I could go on and on....but I think that I have made myself clear on where I stand and I hope my 2 cents have helped with the tough decision you and your family have had to make.... My prays and well wishes are with you...

If you're interested, we are having leftover pasta for dinner tonight. It was homemade, organic wheat pasta, heirloom tomatoes, fresh basil from my garden, zuccini, olive oil, butter, white wine, creamy vodka tomato sauce, garlic, oregano, parmesean, swiss and gruyere cheeses (no meat). It may help your decision. Or not. Best of luck to you. Will be watching ESPN2. Wouldn't miss this for the world!
Wow, and to think I almost gave up my cable!
Again the City of Chicago must live with disappointment. Deep dish pizza had been hyped by the local media as a perfect fit for your dinner choice. The General Manager at Gino's East had specifically cleared enough table space to insure that you and another free agent diner (the Future Mrs. Wonderhorse?) would be able to order the largest possible pizza. The GM went so far as to trade a longtime, regular customer to Giordano's in order to free up space under the restaurant maximum capacity cap.
Wow! This puts the "free will vs. predestination" quandry to shame. Along with all concerned Americans, I anxiously await your decision.
On behalf of Pizza I would like to point out, tomato sause, shreadded and melted cheese and the every so delightful pepperoni. Heck you can even toss on a jalapeno or two if you really want. Come to Pizza, you won't be sorry.
I've got serious money on tacos. Don't let me down.
I'm confused. I thought it was oats? or hay?
**TEARS** I went with the tacos AND chicken nuggets, it just seemed right at the moment, but I did a strawberry soda(Shasta!!) as my drink choice. I know, I know, should have gone with Big-K Mountain Green but I was feeling strawberryish at the time.

I hope your decision doesn't cause as much contraversary as mine did. Glenn Beck is on TV right now howling at my decision.

I went with honey mustard for my dipping sauce. He's all 'Calhoun BBQ dipping sauce', what a jacknad!!!!!

Your dear support,

Tinkerer R. Tink, Cat at large....

P.S.

The pillows sound nice. I may change my desk soon....
I kind of figured you for the breaded-meat-on-stick thing. Corn Dogs? Beef Teriyaki from greasy chinese take out places? You know? That kind of stuff.
Always a treat when Sheldon shows up, chicken nuggets for dinner or not.
Hershey bar & coffee. Dinner of champions.
Again, spot on.
"I will want to jump immediately into my new future, and it takes awhile for the oven to heat up."

OK. That cinches it for me. I've been threatening to do a collection of OS quotes, and by golly, now I'm going to do it! Oh. And in the meantime, here's an msp. FUN read!
Oh Spud.. horse meat?

8-O

Absolutely fun read Sheldon :D.

My money's on the taco.

Rated for life's difficult decisions.
I missed this too, so thanks to Kit and Monkey Sue. Now, I have no idea what this is about, - well actually I thought it might be a flounce note, but it isn't. So, that's good. Just call it a fun read and rate.
