I was recently accused of racism on the Beckola blog. It was only a matter of time, of course. Play with Leftist snakes and you get bit. What got it rolling was this comment about Bill Beck’s loyalists: “His flock is often hilarious. This is dynamite, but I don't care here goes: lots of white racial fetishism. He wrote a gun piece in which he said that if somebody tried to use a gun against him, he WOULD kill them with their gun. The commenters drooled over his bravado, ‘I'm sure you would Bill.’ Funny stuff. Hey libs, ‘miscegenation’ is legal! If you're curious, get it over with.”
I stand by that statement. If OSers want to label me a right-winger and then do the, “he said the m-word,” be my guest. I’ll give you some more ammo. I made a somewhat related comment on another poster’s blog last week. The blogger was concerned that cons feel threatened by the election of the first black president. I said: “White liberals showed some very strange speciesist weirdness of their own in the lead-up and aftermath. Like the sexualization. It makes sense that you don't hear the lust for Obama as much from black women, they should know that he's no Idris Alba. The strange fetishist droolings from the libs (not just women) make me wonder why they don't just get it over with and have sex with a black guy. Men of all races are not very good at turning it down. White liberals have built Obama into an idol of their own saintliness. That is where the cult of personality that cons recoil from, and that Obama did not himself create, intersects with race.”
You see, I have a problem with white Leftists. I think that they are the proliferators of the most common, and destructive types of racism alive in America: the double standards and diminished expectations, the eclecticism for me and group identity for you, the cynical exploitation of groups of human beings as a cudgel with which to pound at political enemies.I wasn’t born this way. I formed these ideas through life experience and probably not the down on the farm one you were hoping for.
For the majority of my life, I have lived in a neighborhood where I was the ethnic minority, and I still do. I was raised by nice Evangelicals, conservative, but not very political, who often had full on confrontations with white bigots in our mixed neighborhood when I was growing up.
It was that spirit that I inherited from my parents that drew me towards the Left, and later made me back away. At its best, the Left strives for social justice. At its worst, it makes specious claims of ownership of various peoples struggles to endorse its agenda, and stroke its sense of moral superiority. Black Americans caught on to this very early on. If you have read the works of Ralph Ellison and Richard Wright, then you know what I’m talking about.
One of the first clues I picked up that I was in bad company occurred when I spent a year in Americorps while in college. We had a ‘diversity’ seminar. Here I was this young white kid who had been around black kids since me and my next-door neighbor rode our Big Wheels together, and these smug white radicals are separating us into racial groups, designating mine as the “oppressor” group. I had never been asked to engage in voluntary segregation, and I fought back. I left with a bad taste in my mouth but it would take me a few years to be sure that I had joined the wrong team.
There is some history to be found of honorable Left activism against racism, though much of it was conducted by radicals with larger agendas.
Only a relative handful of, mostly Jewish, whites were active in the CRM. Martin Luther King did not after all have Tim Leary in his entourage, handing out acid. He didn’t have a line on draft deferments
He didn’t need them anyway. King knew that Americans had a morality fixation. They wanted to be good people, at least to think they were. The real-time horror show that Bull Connor and his ilk provided on cue forced white America to look inward, to decide that they didn’t want to be THAT.
Over the years, the Left has twisted the script. Instead of looking inward, they project Bull Connor onto anyone they disagree with. During that time the ghettoes of America went through a major crisis. I can still remember when 7-year old Dantrell Davis was shot as he walked to school in my native Chicago. I remember the short, depraved, life and death of ‘Yummy’ Sandifer, a killer himself before he was executed at age 11.
The Left’s strategy was to blame Reagonomics, profiling, anything to avoid the harsh truth that sections of ghettoized America desperately needed the same kind of introspection that has gone so far towards the removal of the racist cancer from the white psyche. It became apparent to me that the end game for the Left was not justice, it was vindication of self, no matter the human cost.
The truth is that much of the nihilism in the hood can be traced back to the groups that turned from King’s vision, and hi-jacked the legacy of Malcolm X, reducing him to a caricature of macho posturing. Those were the groups that the New Left got behind when they belatedly joined the struggle. They hoped that enough Fred Hamptons could spill their blood for the Revolution, so they could sit in cafes and draft the health care plan for the new world order.
Today, the average person is more likely to remember some stray line made by Fuzzy Zoeller or Don Imus than what happened to Dantrell Davis or Robert Sandifer. But what have soundbite politics achieved, other than the perpetuation of the grievance industry and the Left’s sanctimony?
I’ve gradually come to the point where I don’t need the communal sanction. My goal is justice for all people everywhere, and I don’t care if that gains me friends or enemies. I will speak my piece. I must even admit that if a white Leftist occasionally calls me a racist, I know I’m probably doing the right thing.
I read blogs and comments on this site and others and the hatred for Middle America is palpable. It reaches out of the screen and grabs me by the throat and there’s nothing even middle about me.
The hatred has been there, but I’m concerned that it is reaching a fever pitch, and elements within this government are intent on dividing people. Homeland Security issues a completely unsupported document, open to wide interpretation, warning against phantom right-wing extremists. ACORN, a left activist group, with high minority representation, is placed front-and-center in a highly improper attempt to politicize the census. The Left is feeding the pitbulls gunpowder while unlatching the cage doors. They don’t care who gets hurt. Manson called it “Helter Skelter.” Bill Ayers loved it. Remember him? Wifey Bernardine squealed, "Dig it! First they killed those pigs and then they put a fork in pig Tate's belly. Wild!" The script being played out now is the same shit, low-intensity config.
I’m sure the banking mafia that has been robbing the country blind over two administrations loves seeing the Left play poke-the-bear and getting juiced up on idiotic culture wars.
So you OS white lefties can keep the virtue you display on your sleeves. You are not the descendants of Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner. They took risks. They didn’t reward themselves with an inheritance of other people’s achievements.
My comment was a light digression about racialist fetishism which is another way to deny people their individuality. If you want to try to make it some Birth of a Nation crap, go ahead.
The only thing I regret is taking part in the Bill Beck pile on. The guy is a bit of an asshole, but even he probably didn’t deserve all that.
Now bring on the outrage. I know you want to.

Also, I completely reject the sexual element that you saw in the responses that you noted. I dont see it one bit. And the lack of sexual expression or intent, or response on my part is the reason I objected to your use of the term "miscegenation". There are three elements necessary for miscegenation, race, sex, and procreation. None of those were present in the post or the comments. You presumed to include "curiosity", and "sex". I have no clue why.
And like I said before, I have no flock. I know them no better than I know you. Somehow you perceive a connection that is just not there.
We've belabored this in the shadows for hours. I agree with the first paragraph. Second: I see things you don't. Could be a bias I've built up, or prescience, or astigmatism, or hallucination, or x-ray vision. We disagree.
I don't trust the Hard Left. I doubt and question their motives. Dose of their own Prozac. I will try with the olive branch sometimes, but that one, and this post is a bullet. I want them on the defensive, if only for a moment to distract them from the prog Der Sturmer routine. I respect that you believe the bullet was off target.
As for the m-word, context. You may have the last word.
I'll decide what I need to do. And I'll do what I want to do. How self-righteous is that?
You won't find me in the front pew of this house of gibbering snake-handlers.
BTW, on that same blog post, I left a comment, "So Bill Beck is a police officer in Los Angeles, that explains a lot." : )
Shmadoff you have a quirky sense of humor that many people without a highly developed sense of humor may not get.
I don't detect racist -- maybe inflexibility in your denouncing of libs.
Bill do you dislike me too?
Is that why I will have to do my "suspected that you were up to no good. You will do you heckling from a distance"?
That wasn't bravado, that was truth. More people die at the hand of their own guns each year than someone else. As for the rest, yawn.
I’ve already been through this with BB. I even edited the post to replace the word “boast” with “said.” There is nothing inherently wrong with having a little bravado. I do.
I supposed if I had written something like "please, Bill take me." That comment would still be on his blog. Well, since I am banned, I guess I'll never know.
Shmadoff is not a racist. Saying the word miscegenation does not make him a racist. Opposing the concept is. Get it?
Whether he is a racist or not is neither important to me or germane to the issue in question. The issue was the motive behind the injection of the concepts of sex and race where they were never in the discussion to begin with. If my picture were not on my profile, the concept of "miscegenation" would never have been introduced. Get it?
Funny how the insulters don't want to touch any of the points I made. You're probably used to stock cons who don't know much about Left history and vernacular.
In reality, each year over 1.5 million people protect themselves with guns they own and in the process prevent an estimated 400,000 deaths. This is a DOJ statistic and on the low end of Defensive Use study numbers.
Anti-gun nazis like to say people are murdered with their own guns, but they have obviously done no real research on the issue an never provide back up for their opinion. I defy them to produce any number showing how many Americans are murdered each year with their own guns and provide a source.
As far as yearly gun deaths go, here are 1998 numbers to give an idea of the breakdown. 12,228 murders, 17,605 suicides, and 875 accidents for a total of 30,708. Realize that hundreds of the deaths in the murdered number can be further broken out into justifiable and excusable homicides. Justifiable homicides usually being cops shooting civilians during felonies and excusable homicides being citizens defending themselves. In contrast, physicians caused 120,000 "accidental" deaths, making doctors far more dangerous for your health than guns. Adverse reactions to prescription drugs usually due to toxicity kill another 100,000. 41,471 people died in traffic accidents, making cars more dangerous than guns. These numbers are from the CDC.
Put up real numbers or shut up about it.
I believe you have clearly proven yourself to be a hypocrite and and ass.
If you are so concerned with controlling the discussions on your blog, to the point where if a comment is not "germane to the issue in question" you DELETE it.
Why then leave the gratuitous and flattering comments from your female admirers? That is what left you open to judgement.
shmadoff-How dare you call the tolerance squad intolerant! Rated!
I dont know what to say to you about the fact that a compliment to you "disgusts" you or whatever. I think you are gripping the wheel a bit too tightly there. I can honestly say, I don't know who or how you have been complimented. I can only say that it does not concern me in the slightest. The notion that a compliment to me concerns you enough to be "disgusted" seems odd. But, I hear you. Can't do a thing about it, but I hear you.
As for "admirers", I took the comments as jokes. I did not engage, encourage, or respond to them. I considered that they were joking with each other, and not me. It is fascinating that your criticism is to the recipient of the action rather than the person to committed the act. I think that exposes the disingenuousness of your criticism, but that is merely opinion. It would be like looking thru your thread, and criticizing you for what others said about you.
Also, interestingly, if the blogger gets criticism for what is on the thread, isn't that an argument for deleting the comments that "disgust" you?
And as for a comment that compliments OR criticizes the post, that is germane. If the compliment says, "will you marry me" as some form of hyperbole, it is still germane. It is not inconsistent with trying to keep a thread consistent. Columnists do it. Comments are moderated before they appear in the news paper's opinion blogs. The Washington Post does it, the NY Times does it. The purpose is the same. They just have the means to moderate it BEFORE it appears. I do not have those means, but I have the same purpose. It would not be reasonable to call introduce ad hominem against them in this fashion, and it is not reasonable against me. I did not invent the practice, and it is the standard operating procedure of periodicals.
WTF are you talking about?
BB says--"If the compliment says, "will you marry me" as some form of hyperbole, it is still germane. "
Again WTF are you taling about?
BB says--"It is not inconsistent with trying to keep a thread consistent. Columnists do it. Comments are moderated before they appear in the news paper's opinion blogs. The Washington Post does it, the NY Times does it. The purpose is the same. They just have the means to moderate it BEFORE it appears. I do not have those means, but I have the same purpose."
You are delusional if you think you are up to the level of journalist/newspapers -- keep on trucking. I don't care about how many "compliments" you receive. Just as long as you cease to engage in witch hunts and recruiting your flock to participate. You were caught and exposed for the vengeful phony that you are.
