The legacy of American foreign policy with regard to the Middle East (see: the Eisenhower Doctrine) has polarized the region into anti-American extremists and sycophantic dependents.  The moderate bloc is the only tool left available to prevent the near-future combustion of the region in a conflagration that will see America pushed out of the region for the foreseeable future, a la Britain circa October 29, 1956.  The moderate bloc is delegitimized by association with the perceived American agenda.  Considering all of these factors that are purposefully not considered by the likes of Robert Kagan and Richard Haass for the express purpose of manipulating an underinformed public into acquiescence, it is clear that the policies of Kagan et. al. will lead directly to the dissolution of American influence in the Middle East.  They and the neocon policy line are therefore the enemies of our state's best interest and, having placed a "greater good" (killing lots of Iranians) before the good of their country, if John Bolton is to be hurling about the nonsense phrase "post-American" at anyone, it ought to be at himself.
