Two weeks left in the semester. I am trying not to drown. I can't write much today, but please read this and tell me what you think: is there such a thing as too nice, especially where female academics are concerned?

I've certainly been Too Nice and *reasonable*, while the assholes and maniacs run amok. I don't know what the solutions, if any, might be. In my case, being retired, I don't have to deal with people or (generally) situations that offend me. Ah, peace...

I kinda like what the lawyer type said in the comments - if it happened in their place, they and all witnesses WOULD BE OBLIGED TO REPORT IT. That should train people to watch their mouths...
