First, a bunch of Kansas DJs decides to "teabag" the White House. Then, in conjunction with the release of its overwrought “Gathering Storm” ad, the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) launches its 2M4M Campaign. Such misnamed bids for relevancy raise a host of questions:
- Can conservatives truly be so clueless about popular culture?
- Did the organizers not have access to Google?
- If they had search engine access, why didn't they use it?
- How could NOM have been so disorganized as to forget to buy the domain name 2M4M.org before announcing its campaign?
- Or was NOM so clever that it anticipated marriage equality proponents would snatch up the 2M4M URL for a website named 2 Men For Marriage?
- Are the anti-fair tax folks secretly pro-oral sex?
- Are the anti-gay commitment folks secretly pro-gay orgy?
- Were the Tea-baggers and 2M4M-ers infiltrated by ironists?
- Do some of them have a secret penchant for humiliation?
- Could the groups be filled with closeted LGBT-ers longing to be free?
Finally, as a friend of a friend suggests, could the real relevancy of NOM, and perhaps by association the modern conservative movement, be hidden in this video?
