Dakini Dancer was one of the first voices I encountered on OS.  She was also one of the first OS-ers I met in person, at the OS birthday celebration in San Francisco.  When I walked in, I was a complete unknown, yet Josie made me feel welcomed.  I asked about the meaning of her screen name, and she was gracious enough to share it.  As we talked, we discovered a shared love of swimming and exercise.  She expressed her excitement about recent lifestyle changes, not only because she'd lost weight but because they made her feel so alive.  I have to say that I cannot imagine her ever being anything but vibrant.

As imperceptibly as Grief
The Summer lapsed away—
Too imperceptible at last
To seem like Perfidy—
A Quietness distilled
As Twilight long begun,
Or Nature spending with herself
Sequestered Afternoon—
The Dusk drew earlier in—
The Morning foreign shone—
A courteous, yet harrowing Grace,
As Guest, that would be gone—
And thus, without a Wing
Or service of a Keel
Our Summer made her light escape
Into the Beautiful.

That is how I will remember her, swimming into the Beautiful.
