About the only thing I could ever manage to do, much less enjoy, on Facebook was the "notes." Thanks, Leeandra!
1. Who was your FIRST prom date?
Alan, although we broke up and didn’t go to the prom. We didn’t want to disappoint his friends, however, so we got dressed up (I wore a white and gold coat dress of my mother’s), went to dinner, and drove them to the prom. Then Alan and I went to the top of Powell St. and watched the cable car works. It was actually one of the most fun dates I can remember.
2. Who was your FIRST love and do you still talk with him/her?
David. My first worthwhile boyfriend. I had been dating such losers since high school, I swore I would not have another boyfriend unless it was someone like David, who was an old boyfriend’s brother. I had no boyfriend for two years until David noticed me. We’re still friends.
3. What was your FIRST alcoholic drink?
Aside from tiny servings of my mom’s cheap sweet white wine, it was some god-awful dollar fifty red jug wine. Got very sick.
4. What was your FIRST job?
Bank teller, and how incongruous is that?
5. What was your FIRST car?
‘58 Chevy Biscayne. Four door, 3-speed, converted to a stick shift from a column shift. Could do over a hundred.
6. Who was the FIRST person to text you today?
Mark
7. Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning?
I didn’t have an opportunity to think this morning.
8. Who was your FIRST grade teacher?
Mrs. Mitchell, a nice, calm lady.
9. When and where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane?
At 23, to Hawaii to visit my sailor boyfriend.
10. Who was your FIRST best friend & do you still talk?
Gloria in 7th grade. She played the violin. Ive lost touch with anyone earlier than high school. I bet she’d be someone I still liked.
11. Where was your FIRST sleepover?
I can’t remember. Should I?
12. Who was the FIRST person you talked to today?
Blue.
13. Whose wedding were you in the FIRST time?
My own. I haven't known many people to have actual weddings that you could be in. My friends all had hippie weddings or other creative types of wedding.
14. What was the FIRST thing you did this morning?
Drank tea, like every morning.
15. What was the FIRST concert you ever went to?
It was Big Brother and the Holding Company at the Avalon Ballroom. Got to see a little of Janis Joplin’s hair (I'm too short to ever see things). But I heard her sing.
16. FIRST tattoo?
No.
17. FIRST piercing?
Ears.
18. FIRST foreign country you've been to?
Ever? El Salvador. That I remember? Mexico.
19. FIRST movie you remember seeing in the theater?
Something Disney. Snow White, Bambi, Dumbo?
20. FIRST Detention you had?
High school, for smoking cigarettes. I had to stay in the office at lunch. I swiped the secretary’s box of rubber bands and did target practice on her office until she threw me out. I never did serve that detention.
21. What was the FIRST state you lived in?
California
22. If you had three wishes, what would the FIRST one be?
A normal spine that would let me have a normal (for me) life.
23. What is the FIRST thing you would learn if you had the chance?
How to ride my own motorcycle.
UPDATE: This keeps growing. Two new firsts:
24. First kiss.
John, my first boyfriend. I was scared to death of kissing a boy and he was a wet, sloppy kisser. I was horrified! I thought I'd never like kissing. I hated kissing until Marvin, who was black and had large, firm lips and wasn't into slobbering on me. Gee, kissing is fun.
25. First serious injury. I was 26, just graduated from college with a degree in linguistics. I got a ride home from a bar from a guy who wasn't in my estimation (and in the estimation of the police, later on) legally drunk. He ran a stop sign, and when a police car started chasing him, HE decided to run. The last thing I remember is saying tremulously, "I think you lost him, slow down" and him saying "No, there he is!"
I woke up in the hospital some time later. The chase had ended broadside into another car. I had seven skull fractures. It took a year to recover. A week or two after the crash, I remembered that I had graduated from college in linguistics, but could not remember what the hell linguistics was. I am still prone to headaches and taking risks, but I can explain linguistics.

Particularly interested in #12, jealous over #15 and on #23, I'm still waiting to sit on the back with my arms around a hunk. You lucky girl, you.

I admit having trouble seeing you as a bank teller!
I wish all physical ills could be banished.
Black, for taste? Green, for health benefits or taste? Oolong, hand-picked from Taiwan? Lipton?
Curious. I like Tzu tea, which is the tastiest green tea I have found to date. Green tea before Tzu tasted like "grass" or "bitter" to me, then I tasted properly made green tea and fell in love.
Rated. For mentioning tea.
This is the only post on this "List of Firsts" (an Open Call, I guess?) that I've read. It's interesting enough, inspiring enough, I just might jump in on it, in a day or two.
