Damn ads

Rate: 4 Flag

I know I may be late on this.

I've been reading Salon.com just every couple of days in the last couple of weeks with the new Beta version of Salon.com .  For some reason, I got signed out of my Salon Premium account, and was dealing with the stupendous number of ads.

This morning I finally signed into my Salon Premium account, which I've held since the dawn of Salon Premium and was astonished at how little difference it makes.  There are still at least one ad on each page.  Flashing.  Moving down with you as you scroll.

I'll use a word I don't use frequently.  I hate advertisements. I don't listen to commercial radio because of them.  I don't watch live TV, or if I do, I make sure I always have the mute button.  I avoid websites with lots of ads regardless of content.  I hate being bombarding with ads.

Which is why I loved Salon Premium.  Until now.

What gives?

Adblocker Plus, my friend, solves all your online ad worries.
Survival. Nothings for free, dude.
I know nothing is for free. That's why I pay Salon every year for Premium, ad-free subscription. I *LIKE* to pay for content sometimes.

I'll check out Adblocker.
Adblocker works very well. I'm on Firefox and can block pretty much everything I choose.
My favorite ads are the ones that start up with music or talking when you open the page. They make me want to contact the designers and ask them if their sole intention is to annoy people.
omg, I just uploaded Adsense and now the Salon.com beta is actually read-able.
