-- "A nation that fails to educate its children soon won't be able to; for who will it have who can do so?"

-- Whenever I tell people that I live in Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island, they always ask how small it is. I tell them that it’s so small that BP wanted to put it on stilts and use it for a deep sea drilling rig.

-- Never get into a pissing contest with a fire hose.

--It’s all very well to be methodical but don’t carry it to the point where you eat alphabet soup alphabetically.

-- You won’t discover the reason for your existence – until you create it.

-- The problem with stupid people is that they're so stupid; but then that's the problem with smart people too.

--Seeds of love only flourish well in a bed of respect.

--You cannot find your destiny in the words of another for his words are his destiny; you must write your own book of life and in that writing, find your own destiny.

--Socialism; wonderful in concept, requires that people be civilized in order for it to work; clearly, we are not yet ready for it.

-Someone once asked me what I thought was the ‘right’ amount of money a person should have.

After due consideration I guess I’d have to say that it’s enough to let you be free but not enough to let you deny freedom to another.

-No matter how much money a stupid man has, whether a little, a lot, or none, he always wants more.  No matter how little money a wise man has, he can always find a way to be content.

-Happiness is an erratic thing; it comes upon us unexpectedly and leaves us without notice.

Contentment, on the other hand, is ours to create; and stays with us as long as we enjoy it.

-You needn’t begin to procrastinate until tomorrow.

-Intelligence is not knowledge. The smartest of men will lack wisdom if their information is in error. This is why you may see a very intelligent man do a really stupid thing.

-How strange it is that only as today is becoming yesterday do we realize that we ought to have planned better for it when it was tomorrow!

You are a very wise cat, indeed. I plan to embroider that procrastination remark onto a pillow....as soon as I get around to it. R
Gerry,
I find getting around to pillows a whole lot easier than..... say, getting around to snow shovels.....;-)
.
I will mull your ponderings at a future time... oooh shiny!
Thanks for your cool collection of insightful quotes.
An interesting quote I read yesterday, "There is no pillow so soft as a clear conscience. R.
Good, Kitty! I knew there was a reason why I love cats so much.
Interesting insight into the male psyche. When I tried to substitute "woman" and "women" for "man" and "men," they don't really apply to the women I know. Like your comment about a wise man being content with very little money. Tell that to a woman who has no money to feed her kids.
Dear Dr.,

You're years ahead of your time! Few women of today recognize so clearly that 'women' can't always be substituted in place of 'men'........
you realize of course, that I'm going to "steal" these ?

In the Qabalah Knowledge is a phasntasmogorical sphira. There are ten spheres of existence. Eleven counting Da'at which either may or may not exist. After Da'at comes Chokmah or wisdom and above them all is Binah; understanding.
Excuse me Da'at means knowledge
These are goodies! I used to live on a small island too. We are kin.
Rudy,
Yer welcome to any that take your fancy!

Jack,
I've no idea what you're talking about but I suspect it's another of those "Eastern, lost knowledge, mystical" things. Not for me, thanks.

nile,
Yup! All "oilanders" is kin! ;-)
.
Scanner,
Only you could write a one word comment that is both deliberately mis-spelled AND unintentionally mis-spelled...... ;-)

;-)

Great observations on life. Speaking of that, while in High School I once looked up the topic "Life" in a book of quotations. Expecting to find the wisdom of the experienced, I came across this quote: "Life is just one damned thing after another". It wasn't the uplifting knowledge I hoped to find, but it did turn out to be true.
Gary,

That IS the wisdom of experience!!

I figure that, as long as one damned thing after another keeps on happening, I'm still alive....
"it’s so small that BP wanted to put it on stilts and use it for a deep sea drilling rig." I'm SO stealing that line. :)
