Week of May 4
This week I taught part of the class! I taught Integration which begins the class. I led students into child's pose, downward facing dog, ragdoll, and samasthiti. I was nervous, but I got through everything. I think I forgot to have the students toe-heel their feet together before rolling up to standing at attention (samasthiti), but otherwise I covered everything essential. Unfortunately, covering the essentials is not everything. Feedback from Shelly was to approach the class with more confidence and more of myself. I guess she could tell I was a bit nervous. My voice was strong, clear, with good rhythm, but I needed more of me in it. My voice was void of personality just like my face was void of a smile. I accept the feedback and have action for the future. I realize I need to trust my knowledge. I know the cues! I need to get out of my head and the logics and speak from my heart and my soul. I need to speak yoga using my voice, not the voice of my teachers.
