A Simple Sea Shanty...with a gorilla

Rate: 10 Flag

A friend of mine hosted a last minute party two Halloweens ago and, though it was sparsly attended, a very good time was had by all.

After a few drinks, we wound up in his barn behind the house for a few more drinks and some story telling.

One of the attendees, the friend of a friend, is a bit of a performer. For real. He has a business entertaining at kids' parties and has also done some cartoon voices (though I'm not sure any of the cartoons have ever made it to television).

As we were sitting around, this guy, Pete, dressed as kind a Phantom of the Opera-type character, burst into song and was accompanied by our other friend, Michael, on the guitar.

After a few seconds of processing just what the hell was happening, I grabbed another friend's camera on the table next to me and, fortunately, quickly figured out its video function and recorded the remainder of the song.

Of course, no good Halloween party is complete without a guy in a gorilla suit. Luckily, we had one.

Later in the evening, Pete did a tarot card reading for me and, needless to say, it was completely bogus. I have not come into the money the cards said I would.

But fortunately, I do have this video. Enjoy!

Some might deem a party in a barn rather weird, not me; I'm a country boy and some of my best parties took place in a barn. But, a sea-shanty-singing-phantom of the Opera is out there even for this ole country boy!

Ah, David, a barn party is the best kind!
Sounds like a cool party--sorry I missed it! ;o) D
What fun! You can tell he is a performer! Loved it, thanks!!!
Yarn - It was cool :) I'm sorry you missed it too!

LL2 - You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by.
Party on, brother; that's what a real party looks like.

Now picture me skipping around my room, clapping my hands along with the Phantom...
Silly enough?
This was great!
:-)
it looks like a ghostly apparition!
Thoth - It was one of those spontaneous, couldn't-be-planned kind of moments. The stuff of a good party.

S_M - I can picture that and yes, silly! Thanks!

Kathy - He was quite a sight - a portly phantom with a booming voice!
Oh-My-LANTA! I remember when you sent this to me...gosh, how long had we been emailing each other? Two weeks? Maybe only one? I laughed so hard and wished I had been there with you that night. I'm with Thoth - THAT'S just a good old-fashioned PARTY!
OM ~ I wish you had been there, sweetheart. We would have had a blast together and I'm sure you could have belted out a few tunes as well! ~xoxoxo~
Barn parties are fun! Great video, truly hysterical!
Thanks Poppi! It was a great time.
