F.U.C.K. The Wars

Rate: 8 Flag

We all grew up on Stg. Rock, even after Vietnam.

All of these wonderful young men and women that serve in Iraq and Afghanistan...HOOO Fucking RAH.

To all that you have seen, heard and witnessed, on our behalf in Iraq and Afghanistan, do not be silent.  Let us hear, let us know. SHOUT OUT.

To All Veterans. Thank FUCKING you.

My ancestor fought in 1777.  He came back to his bride wounded and with slaves and a family to support. I put the slaves first, because that was the first codicil in his widow's will:

  1. I have lost the farm and filed for a pension.  I am waiting.
  2. To my children I bequeth the following slave families, as I do not want them separated or sold.

My direct ancestor was the second son.  As primogeniture still ruled in the colony of Virginia in the late 1700's he set out for Missouri, where he made well by starting the first Bank, Lumber Mill and Fire House, (after his house burnt down.) in Columbia Missouri.

That is where my Grandmother was born.  She was a General's daughter, and her father and my grandfather served with Pershing in the first World War.

They both returned safely, my Grandfather only to be just right to pick off the tree and serve in Burma from 1941 to 1946.  He was involved in the War Crimes Trials in Shanghai against the Japanese until '46.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have two Maternal ancestors who died in the Civil War.  One in Price's Army for the Confederates on the bank of the Mississippi. The other at the Battle of Antietam for the Union.

Anyhoo...One ancestor was the first graduate of an exclusive Prep School in the NE to go to West Point.  He is my great-grandfather.

My Uncle was the first Air Force Pilot to be killed in Vietnam.  I wear his bracelet today.  Any boomer will remember those bracelets. And for those of you who remember all of the acronyms of the dead he was reported: KIA/MIA/POW/BNF.  For newbies to these horrific acryonyms, it is Killed in Action, Missing in Action. Prisoner of War, and Body Not Found.  He was killed his first day in Vietnam as an Advisor to the Vietnamese under JFK.  He was 29, had flown 67 missions in Korea, and is on the first panel of the Vietnam Memorial in D.C.  He left a wife and five children behind.  I didn't get to know my cousins becuase he died when I was 3.

I was there in D.C. in '80, 0r '81 when they dedicated the memorial, I only remember that President Actor did not appear and that when I walked into my Law Firm on K. Street in DC on Monday morning, everyone had seen me weeping on NBC Nightly News.  This was before cable.

My husband is 100 percent disabled from his service in Vietnam.

My brother is suffering with alcholism and PTSD from his service flying off carriers in Desert Storm.

I love the Military.

I hate War.

Please Obama, keep your promise, bring them all home.

We have a new generation of vets who are overwhelmed by coming home, and don't have anyone to reach out to.

Write me here.

I will listen.

You will survive.

The VA Hospital system is overloaded and underfunded.

You will only know if you have to live it.

I hate the fucking two wars that we are fighting.

Don't forget those who are dying every day on  your behalf.

Mothers , Fathers, Sisters, Brother, Grandfathers, and Grandmothers are going in the ground so you won't have to think about your freedom.

Let it ring

Let us not forget.

Peace Out.

There is too much money being made by corporations. Obama indicated from the start he would be beefing things up in Afghanistan. He has no intention of stopping the flow of cash. The forever war against "terrorism" will continue. monkey fingered.
Behind Blue Eyes: Truth.
to all those who thought the sun would rise as soon as saint obama stepped into the oval office: it doesn't work like that.

america is a nation of serfs. you are called to fight for your 'leaders', but you are not consulted in the management of the nation. it will be run for the 'leaders' as long as you agree to do as they say.

calling for an end to war is good, but a higher level of civic participation is required: nothing will happen until you take the nation out of the hands of the 'few' to put into the hands of the people.
Four Paws, Snap!

My Uncle, brother in law and husband are all millitary vets . . :)

Pawed for honesty! God Bless our Millitary!
Al Loomis: You write the standard and true reality, if we could only rise like the sixties and get those men and women out of the sandbox, once and for all.
LadyMiko: God Bless you and your relatives who served. Give them four paws for me!
The wars are not over because there is no outrage by the people. We'd still be in Vietnam if it weren't for the huge amount of civil unrest. Now the media will not give these wars their due.
The four soldiers killed by a roadside bomb yesterday was covered with four paragraphs on the back page and at the bottom of the page at that. I wanted to puke when I saw that and fired off a letter to the editor about it. WTF? Our folks are dying to protect your write to free speech and this is the honor you give them?
Out of sight, out of mind is a pathetic method of covering a war.
Micheal Rodgers: WORD. Rated.
Wow, what a history your family has.

Great post!
I am glad you gave a shout out. I also agree with a poster that we should all take to the streets about the way veterans are treated. Most people on this site seem to agree that going into Afghanistan is a mistake. How do we translate that into media attention? Also, Monte Canfield's post about the Rolling Stone article on the financial mess that is getting worse--it is not JUST the bailouts that are helping the crooks, it is the fact that more schemes to funnel money are being created every day and no one tracks them. Congress supposedly has no power over the Federal Reserve. This money is even more money than the bailouts. What can we do?
