Traction Control Saved My Life

When I bought my super-duper, over-powered V-8 retr0-monster a few years ago, the only thing that I was impressed with was the brochure that told me it would go zero to 60 in 4.1.  The brochure didn't lie.

Going fast is great, stopping straight and fast is much better. … Read full post »

What Happened to Rain, Mud and Blood?

Call me Old School.  Not because it is trendy, because it has a visceral meaning beyond anything that will happen in Tampa today.

Don't get me wrong, I love football.  I especially love the movie "Diner" where the fiance has to pass a test, multiple choice of the Baltimore Colts… Read full post »

All my Dad wants for Christmas is his two front teeth.

 TEETH

I have not seen my parents together since 1969 when they decided to divorce and go thier separate ways.

My sister and I were left with my grandmother at her beach house.  And at age ten, I learned to live with the loss of both parents at once.  My seven… Read full post »

Sesame Street and Lawrence Welk almost killed me.

This is easy, peasy, Japaneasy.  Worst job ever?!  Working at a small PBS station.  PBS is a system with 12o odd stations that go from the big five in NYC, DC, Boston, Seattle and SFO to tiny stations like ours.

But most of the stations were like mine, small, underfunded and… Read full post »

Chicken Chow Mein in the Promised Land

I live among mountains that take your breath away.  The colors change from the blending of sky and earth at dawn to the hard sharp edges of noon, to the warm golden glow of the sun racing off to California in the afternoon.

The people here don't take my breath away, they scar… Read full post »
