iPad Lameness

So I'm trying to get back into blogging. At the same time, I heart my iPad. But along with the brilliant decision by the Apple people to disallow Flash, apparently I can't upload photos (or anything else) to OS from my iPad.

It's not easy to come up with interesting things… Read full post »

My Fave Things Thursday

Since it’s not that great of a day, I want to turn my frown upside down. So I’m going to think about all the things about this day that deserve an awesomeness award.

On this day in 2001

On this day in 2001 an overseas phone call awoke me early in the morning. It was a friend who was living in London and she was panicking because she couldn't get through to her boyfriend, who lived in NYC.

Why, what happened, I asked?

I'm not exactly sure, she said,… Read full post »

Somyr-Time Shrimp

After living with a professional chef for a number of years, one who comes from humble cooking roots can begin to get a little big for her britches. I realized my developing culinary snobbery when my parents were over for a visit and shrimp was on the evening's menu.

I'll cook theRead full post »

Lamenting the Death of My Vacuum

It's a sad day for domesticity; my Dirt Devil Canister vacuum died.

It was the best vacuum I ever had.

I've had a few upright vacuums in my life, too, but there's something different about my canister vac. Something special that I've lost ... like the end of my young womanhood.Read full post »

Now, I'm not a champagne expert. So when I describe a champagne, I'll do so with the palate of an amateur and write in the words of a layman.

Ten Reasons Why I Love My iPhone

Iphone

Reason 1: It's shiney. Even in it's clear plastic casing, it's smooth and sleek and just a tad blingy. I just finished polishing; it looks like a million bucks.

Reason 2: It weighs enough that I feel like I'm holding a quality item. I've always been skeptical of electronics… Read full post »

Family traditions

Champagne Friday is a tradition in my family that began with my parents who originally intended it to be a date night; a night to reconnect after a long week of disconnect and toast a glass of champagne to each other.
