It was an awful, awful day...I felt so utterly powerless and afraid...so I turned to the one place that would, could provide refuge: the canvas. While the world around me seemed to be crumbling I could create my own place in it, perhaps? I honestly don't know.
As time went on after the attacks, I realized it really is about what we do after the shock. It's about how we handle adversity over time, how we choose to live with a broken heart, a maimed spirit. And it is a choice. One can see the glass as half empty or half full.
I chose to title this work "Half Full."
It's 3ft by 4ft, oil on stretched canvas and has been on loan to Commissioner Patty Sheehan where it hangs in Orlando City Hall.
