A Day in the Country

Rate: 3 Flag

D at last came with me to the country house.

I needed photos to accompany an essay I'd written for publication. He was a good sport about taking pictures.

Sun room window seat

Here I am in the sunroom.

at door - 2t

...and outside...

bed - 2t

...and in my room. (Yes, I know. I was apparently impelled that day to show my ankles repeatedly.)

We got an early start, but still, I missed the library's presentation on tap dance. (D. would not have accompanied me.) Did catch the farmer's market and retirement home's yard sale. Normally, I avoid these things. But I ended up buying a few needless items: a biscuit tin, perfume bottle (turned out to be from Teleflora, darn it), sweet little plates. I'm a sucker for dishes. Home and food. Anything with home or food.

Oh, and I bought a piece of kick-ass cake at the bookstore-bakery: vanilla with chocolate icing. Didn't even mind the coconut. Stopped twice on the way home, to eat it. Sweet.

Now I have sun room envy. :-D

And I want cake. Must be Monday as I have neither.
Life is better with both.

Can't do much about a sun room, but I *can tell you where to find really good cake. :-)
Lovely pictures of you in a house that reminds me of my grandmother's.

Vanilla cake is my absolute favorite!
Thank you, B! D says his grandmother's house had a window seat, too. Personally, I'm a sucker for "old lady things."

Let me know when & if you plan to visit central Vermont. Cake will be on *me :-D
Love the whole "country house" idea and theme. You look so at home there and have to say that you have the greatest curly hair. Mine is pin straight and I always wanted curls that didn't require bobbie pins or curlers (I know, that dates me, but my mom used them to make my hair curly as a child). Today, that might qualify as child abuse!
Vermont is so surreal and lovely. Good luck with your publication!
JustCathy, I just saw your comment--and wanted to thank you for that and your kind wishes.

I'm used to my hair now, and have stopped fighting with it in the summertime. Needless to say, as a young person, I wanted it straight!
