Rain in the Valley, on the Roof, in the Mail

Rate: 1 Flag

I like rain in the summertime. It keeps the temperature from climbing too high. I like to think it keeps bats from flying. It's a good thing.

You can have too much of a good thing. My property's plants have gone Jack-and-the-Beanstalk; rain forest; shoots appearing in upper story windows. That has to bring bugs. Bugs bring bats.

One of my storage barns sustained so much leakage, it's nearly rotted through. The first floor smells of mildew.

The clincher: When I opened my mailbox, the door nearly came off its hinge in my hand. The rain rusted my mailbox almost clean through.
