As part of "World Wish Day", a day which saw 175 wishes come true around the world for kids living with life-threatening illnesses, Erik Martin of Bellevue, Washington, was deemed a "super hero" by the likes of Spiderman himself.
Erik is a thirteen-year-old who lives with debilitating kidney cancer. His wish was to become a super hero. The local chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation was up to the task!

According to the King 5.com, Erik was treated to this life-affirming day:
"At 11 a.m. Electron Boy received a dire phone call from Spiderman, briefing him on an emergency – the Sounders are trapped in a dark locker room. Our hero got into his costume then took off in his superhero vehicle, a DeLorean, with Bellevue Police escorting him.
About an hour later, Electron Boy arrived at Qwest Field. He swooped in to rescue the team from perpetual darkness.
His work was not done. An hour later, he was back in Bellevue, rescuing someone trapped in a Puget Sound Energy bucket truck. The truck had been zapped by the evil Dr. Dark.
Soon after, Electron Boy was back in Seattle at the Space Needle, where the elevator suddenly was not working and civilians were stranded on the observation deck. Dr. Dark was waiting for him in the lobby. As the two battled it out, Electron Boy froze Dr. Dark with his lightning rod. Our hero then got the elevator working.
The Make-A-Wish staff congratulated and cheered Electron Boy as police hauled away Dr. Dark and Blackout Boy (played by "Deadliest Catch" stars Edgar Hansen and Jake Anderson)."
It is a rare opportunity that we get to meet the hero behind the mask! I know I feel a lot safer knowing Electron Boy is out there, how about you?

That should have been 175 per state, let alone per country, as far a Im concerned.
sorry, I hate to be a downer, but I can't help but think of all the other kids who never get their wishes granted
Stud - this is wishes granted on one day. They grant a wish every 40 minutes world wide now according to their website. I think the total was nearing 200,000 wishes granted. I'm a glass half full girl! ;)
Such an uplifting story. Thank you!
Here's to growing (and glowing) hearts!
