Medicare Part D, the so called prescription drug benefit was crafted by the pharmaceutical industry with two intentions. Number one, to protect the industry’s profits. Number two, to bankrupt the medicare system. The plan was written so that beneficiaries would have to start paying the full price for medications after their drug bills reached a certain dollar amount. The plan also makes it illegal for Medicare to negotiate for lower prices on the drugs regardless of the quantity the government plan purchases! The drug companies in turn charge outrageously inflated prices so the beneficiaries will reach their limit sooner and Medicare will become bankrupt sooner!

The Big Pharma model is no different than the drug dealer who sells on the street corner. Their motives are exactly the same. And their lack of concern for their fellow human beings is identical. Yes! There are drugs that help people. But that fact pales to the addictions, over-prescribing, side effects, social and psychological damage and price gouging that are an integral part of the pharmaceutical industry, both legal and illegal!
