When money gets tight, it can be difficult to meet even the basic expenses such as utilities. A good way to save some electricity is by having a family game night.

Most folks have at least a few board games tucked away in a closet. Pull them out and dust them off and have a family game night, or two.

Have some fun with your kids and save some money too.

I have to tell you that this holiday as been the best I have experienced in years. My son has stayed for an extended visit, my daughter and her new beau are always here and my sister and brother-in-law arrived from Arizona. We have spent a portion of almost every evening since Christmas playing games. Grownups are the worst children in the competition arena -- we have laughed until tears rolled down our faces. Simple pleasures are the best. Great post!

Thanks Donna. I'm sorry that I have not been able to comment on posts by my favorites, such as yourself, for a while, but my current situation is taking its toll on me.

At any rate, I will try to get more involved with OS.

You are absolutely correct when you say that simple pleasures are the best. Anything that can make my family happy is a good thing, no matter how basic or simple...................family hugs work well too.
Have faith, my friend. I know that is often easier said than done. Please stay positive. Don't let depression work its destructive force into your life. Sending positive thoughts your way.
Thanks Donna.

Aunt Mabel, the kids will just have to make due with what is available.
I love this idea and I love the premise for your posts. We are at our lowest point ever, and food is very close, so I'll be perusing your site for ideas. We just had the turkey stock chicken soup that was more like a stew. Fed the 3 of us for 3 dinners!

Thanks junk1!! Any suggestions/ways of saving are welcome as are inexpensive recipes. Although I'm a political partisan, I'm trying to kepp my politics off this blog and just stick to people helping each other out----things will be getting much worse soon and we'll need to pull together.
