Response to EricaK's Open Call - Midweek Music Fest
I'm writing in response to EricaK's Open Call for a midweek music fest. I'm a bit late since it is Friday! Erica had a tough day yesterday and she went home to get hugs from Quincy Magoo, her beloved blind kitty. It reminded me of the comfort I get from my… Read full post »
Kaco Found a Home!
I’m writing with some very good news for Kaco the cat who I had written about on March 13. Kaco’s caretaker had been diagnosed with an advanced case of a rare cancer and had sadly died a month later. Kaco was suddenly without his loving caretaker and was living i/… Read full post »

I’m posting my favorite song in response to Stathi Stathi’s and V. Corso’s Open Call. It expresses the love I feel for the animals I’ve rescued and those I haven't been able to -- especially to two lovely cats who reside in the yard behind… Read full post »
When a Pet’s Caretaker Dies
A coworker recently came to me and asked if I could help find a home for her friend’s mother’s cat. The woman had just passed away after being in hospice in Calvary Hospital in the Bronx for two weeks, after suffering with a rare type of cancer. Kaco her cat/… Read full post »

HAPPILY EVER AFTER…
Last week my
friend Anne forwarded me an email written by a co-worker who was
going to put her cat Charlotte in a shelter if she doesn’t
find a new home. The woman was recently married,
and her new husband is allergic to Charlotte and won't take
medication. She sa/… Read full post » Dreams About My Father
My father said he was like the old man and the pool. He’d hurt his hip by tirelessly working on my parents’ aging swimming pool. In the end the pool’s lining got destroyed in a storm, and Dad needed to have his hip replaced. He wanted to be able to dance/… Read full post »
The Halloween Tuxedo And My Fairy Godmother
A good guy team was forming on my block back in the day. It was a time of hope and possibility, before now, before the bad guys started to win the battles. It helps to remember those days. Like candles in the darkness, those memories give me hope that the bad… Read full post »
The Cats of Forest Hills - Who Shot Bambi's Mother?
There was a terrible blizzard in the winter of 1995 in New York City. Snow reached the tops of stop signs in Forest Hills, Queens, where my best friend Diane lived. She’d been filling me in on the storm and the saga of some stray cats across the street from her,/… Read full post »
