Foodie Tuesday - Malthusian Pie (Re-post)

Rate: 3 Flag

Take one decrepit blog platform, no please.

Add five years of what we need summon kindness to call je ne sais quoi, because we bloody hell know what the ne sais quoi, and arrive at that place where the bubble-gum is holding once again.

Now add a soupçon of we're really fucked. (At fine shops everywhere.)

Because the premise of this place is still on the cusp of unworkable. (450o for 6 1/2 years?)

And there you have it: Malthusian Pie.

You know whom I miss ever since OS came sorta-back? I miss the folks who made such a big deal out of boycotting that they may feel like they aren't welcome ever again.

Pish tosh.

Many of us have resurfaced who used to grace these pages regularly. You needn't explain. It's in the work.

But if we are what we eat, and we're eating Malthusian pie remember, we are screaming towards a mathematical inevitability. We either speed-read our way to the popular assumption that we are wonderful which morphs into that we skim like lightning to comment, or else find ourselves able to pay attention to about 10 "favorites."

What kind of hellscape did we sign on to, Kerry?

Ceci n'est pas un "opencall."
I boycotted when the place would not work and do not care if I am not welcome back. It's different now, but there is still good writin' to read.
Stacey ~ recently, I was telling another OSer friend in a PM all of the strategies I had to work with to get a post to "publish" when the site was at its most error-plagued. Besides writing offline and pasting in, I often had to avoid the save as draft button as the entire post would be lost. Straight to the "publish" button was mostly the way to go during those dark days. Hard to believe how fast the site is again. Also, it's been over a month since I last saw the "join" button here. Until the join Open Salon feature is brought back we're somewhat of an exclusive group here that no one can join.
Zuma - I tried to make this a tease of what I had been doing here while folks were away. Trying to convert the "would not work" into humor, where possible, and slogging away at my usual inanities, which are often less well received than those "Yahoo comments" forays into ideological trolling which seem to be running rampant once again and "clogging the feeds." My next effort will not have even a smidge of meta. Promise.

D. - That happened to me too, a fair amount. Fortunately if I went to "manage blog posts" right after an error like that, it would be there and with saved changes. This will be quite the challenge for the new moderator, as every anti-spam strategy so far seems to have been met with a workaround.

At least my comments are no longer served up in multiples, three minutes apart.
