Above all the Noise

Where is the harm in creating a National Health Care Program.  Those who need it can get care.  Those who don't won't.  If there are costs (estimated at 1.5 Trillion over the next 10 years), then raising that amount will not be hard.  People making more than $1Million a year can be taxed on the amounts over that (even 10% will not affect their drive to earn).  And even the poorest can afford to pay $1 for a doctors visit (or the patient can show the need and someone in the office will pay the $1 for that patient).  And don't forget all the money that the health insurance companies are now earning (not only for their shareholders, but for their CEO's.).  Why is it that my health insurance has gone up almost double in the last five years while the insurance company profits has gone up 400% in that same period and the CEO is making more money in a month than most Americans make in a decade.  So there is plenty of money to bring back into circulation if we compete against those insurance companies and their CEO's.  Drug companies, hospital corporations, money is all in...

We need someone to say share the space ,allow competition that is not based upon profit motive, but only based upon care and assisting those who need it.  I want the President to speak out and make his case.  I will try to scream above all the noise so that Americans take note.  A Universal Health Care option is an idea whose time has come.

I agree with the far right, that there should be no death panels, but, as an attorney, I do discuss medical directives, and living wills so that people's voices will be heard while they can choose for themselves, so discussing death with one's family or professionals is fine with me.  These types of discussions are not death panels but just knowledge sharing and thought provoking paths toward a better understanding of what to do just in case.

I agree with the far right, that there should be no one deciding for them whether or not a procedure can be done.  If deemed necessary by a doctor all procedures should be done.  But that does not affect the present issues where insurance companies tell us whether they will cover a procedure or not.

I agree with tPresident Obama that now is the time to pass this legislation as it will make our country a better place.

It's important to emphasize universal health care as compared with universal health insurance - we see in Massachusetts that it is possible to approach 100% health insurance enrollment and still not have universal health care due to excessive co-pays, etc., coupled with a shortage of doctors.

And it is surely long past time to get this legislation passed!
