Flash Mob Sings for Public Option: At Insurers Meeting

Rate: 37 Flag

I love these guys, Billionaires for Wealthcare.  Watch what they did in the midst of the powerful insurance lobby meeting.

Who is AHIP, check out their web site.

Julie, what is great is that most of these actions are advertisements, this was a political act in the den of the lion. Great singers.
Exactly. Not to mention that they "looked the part". Fabulous.
I love this kind of thing. thanks for posting it!
I LOVE this...thanks for the video and information.
That was great! I cross-posted it to my personal blog:

That was fabulous!
WOOT!! That was the best thing I've seen in a long time!
Reminds me of the antics of Abby Hoffman. We need the kids doing more of this kind of thing.

Rated.
Marvelous -- I thot I was back in the 60's for a moment, when young folks had guts and brains -- at least the one that weren't totally stoned all the time
jeez, my mouth is wide open, I cant believe they did that. I would have been so nervous! they sang beautifully. just so cool, kudos to them. I found them awhile back and posted one of their written bits but this is really great, i hope it gets lots of views
I had to watch that one twice!!! Got any more like that?!
my heart jumped with happiness! fabulous!

you know we're gonna win this!

hope and change, hope and change!! yay
Compare this to the screaming nasty teabagers!!!
Dear Stellaa,
I've been following and favoriting you for a while now.
It's the best yet!!!!!
Thank you for what you do and have been doing for quite some time!
I've put this on my Facebook page.......
Peace through Music!
LOVE LIGHT JOY LAUGHTER PEACE (REPEAT!)
Perfect.

This is just what I needed after this week.

Thanks, Stellaa.
Like Andy H said, reminiscent of Abby Hoffman.
Very freaking cool to say the least. Fuck those people.
This is awesome. What away to protest!
I love this! I absolutely love this!
"The option, the option, without it, it's a give away".
And I didn't have to stand in line to get rush tickets for this Broadway performance!!

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
It's a weepy day for me anyway, and I just can't take anymore of the bitter hatred I feel about the entire healthcare debacle. Now I understand why Obama gave Hillary Sec of State- to shut her up on this issue so he could cave to the lying, cheating, heinous health insurance lobby without her "strident" opposition in the Senate. I hate him for this boondoogle. This is also why I have not been reading your posts. The stress of this anger only adds to my potential health insurance woes. Rated anyway dammit.
OK, I'll take the bait.

Here's the difference between these people who many at OS admire and the tea partyers and town-hall protesters who are scorned.

This was disrupting a private meeting of citizens exercising their right to peaceably assemble and prepare petitions to the government.

The tea parties are citizens organizing people peaceably to petition government. They are generally not protests where they go to someone else's event and try to disrupt it.

The town hall protesters are people who attend sessions organized by government officials *for the purpose of hearing citizen feedback*. So, it is not that people come to these events under false premises and then disrupt something intended for some other purpose.

So, in terms of which groups have protested within the framework of free speech and organizing to petition government, it is clear that opponents of Obama's healthcare reform have been the more open and straightforward. Proponents of Obama's plans are much more likely to seek to stifle the speech of their fellow citizens through actions like this.

Just sayin'
McGarrett,

Nice to see you. I don't agree, surprise. They paid to enter the private meeting. They did not stop people from talking. They did their protest and of course they knew they would be escorted out. Finally, they were clever and the teabaggers were just crass and rude.

I also think the public meeting is for everyone and people should not disrupt the meeting for their point of view and prevent others from speaking.
Perfect!! Upbeat, on message, great venue. But those old white men of privilege still didn't get the point. Too bad. Every voice adds to the choir.
What would Barney Frank say?
Barry would like the music, I did.

JK, I don't know if they will get it.
Stellaa, they won't get it until we change the formula. Right now, they are paid NOT to get it and paid handsomely. It is our society's own value system that keeps this afloat. gah...I feel a rant coming on.
Grinning from ear to ear. Fab.
I've seen that video a couple of times and I loved it!

Boy... can they sing!
Elegant... and courageous.
And no one applauded! If I was in that room, I wouldn't care if my salary came from the insurers. I'd still applaud that.

Lobbyists are clearly humorless, boring, timid people.
That was perfect -wish that's all it took to create change!
