Watch the video of Nancy Pelosi announcing the House Bill with Public Option.
Here is the actual Affordable Healthcare Act .
The work is not done. There are still negotiations and deals that will be made. We still have to meld with the Senate bill. But remember the House Bill is more aggressive and provides more to us, the beneficiaries.
(this is just happening, but Wakinupslowly think people should take notice. )
Highlights:
- This Bill does not include the Robust, Medicare +5% which would have saved more money since the prices of the services would be negotiated.
- The main revenue sources in the House bill include a surcharge on wealthy taxpayers and changes to Medicaid and Medicare worth about $500 billion in cost savings over 10 years, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.
- The Bill would cover 36 million new people.
- No-pre existing exclusions.
- End of the anti trust exemption for insurance companies.
- End the double standard on covering women, gender rating will be eliminated.
- It would allow children to stay on parents insurance till they are 27 years old.
- The age surcharge will not be the 5 times of the base as in the Senate but only 2 times.
- A surtax on individuals earning more than $500,000 or couples earning more than $1,000,000. (yes, new taxes). The Senate would tax cost insurance policies. (this does not make sense).
- Deficit neutral (I need to check on this and what it means).
- Remember right now the unemployed, got a bit of help to cover their COBRA during unemployment, that subsidy is running out. This bill would cover people during periods of unemployment.
What are the Republicans saying (remember yesterday there was a poll that 72% of Americans, think the Republicans are basically worthless)
Bohener, your teabag ploy did not work, the American people in polls are 62% for a public option. If people still doubt evolution, look at this dinosaur. Lying about the cuts to seniors. (If anyone needs a name change)
Lynn Woolsey, Progressive caucus co-chair, and my Congresswoman, from the Nation:
Woolsey and other progressive Democrats are set to meet with President Obama Thursday.
"He needs to hear from us that he needs to support the public option,'' Woolsey told the Los Angeles Times. "He's not saying it loud enough. We want to make sure he lets the Senate know he wants a public option in the bill."
Ok, this is so brilliant. The Republicans in the Senate have been complaining that the Democrats need to put up the Bill 72 hours before it will be up for vote. The Democrats have committed to doing so. Watch Boehner do a wiggle dance when asked about the alleged Republican plan:

OS, where we all can pretend to be reporters. LOL
Also,
Employers would be required to offer health insurance to workers
Employers will pay fines for not offering health insurance
Americans will be fined for not purchasing insurance coverage (no word yet on enforcement)
Subsidies will be provided to poor people who can't afford health insurance
Insurance companies will not be able to discriminate against older people or pre-existing conditions
A government option will be available to "compete" with the private sector.
Anyone who thinks this will be deficit neutral need to look no further than Medicare and Medicaid.
This is simply another social program that is doomed to fail.
No it is not a cut in Medicare. Its a lie. I will post a detailed post on that. Anyway, seniors get 38% of all social programs, time to share.
Blackflon, all the things you mention have been tinkered, you are stuck in an older version.
Yes, subsidies will be provided cause we already pay for it. It's called healthcare not "we wait till you gonna almost die to help you".
Yeah, it's a social program because we are a society. It's not another war, which would be easier for you guys to buy into the cost.
I just hope the bill doesn't get watered down any more than it already is, but I know that it will. I would like to see the regulatory exemption taken away from big insurance, too.
If you believe as John Boehner does, then you are in favor of a 30% skim going to pencil pushers. And I thought talent/booking agents were excessive. Geesh.
Hooray for the nose of the camel, the Democratic caucus in the House, Stellaa, and waking. (rated+++++)
It ain't Medicare For All (HR676), but it is indeed the camel's nose nudging at the door. Help push that door open!
The only thing that worries me is requiring everyone to have healthcare. I don't think the government can require that by law. A lot of families can't afford healthcare. That's the whole point.
Yesterday my husband got a fat envelope from Regence Blue Shield that upped his Medicare supplemental insurance 76% or $113 more each month, and increased his copays all over the place and increased the out of pocket maximum $500. In other words, if he was hospitalized we would be liable for one boatload more money. Fuck them, he's changing to Group Health. So he paid into medicare since the mid 1960's, He pays $96.80 every month for Part B so these Republicant asshats can kiss me where the sun doesn't shine with their foot dragging about health care reform.
Last year my premium would have changed from $312 to $397 but I changed the plan to a lesser level of coverage and added dental. It's crazy but if I have to review plans every year to manage my health care expenses, that is what I will do to try and stay ahead of their greed the best way that I can, by taking my money where it counts. I have private insurance, so I am already paying at the highest rate because I am not in an employer sponsored plan.
Let's hope they improve the bill and protect us from these greedy bastids!
HR 676 Medicare for All.
As you know, this is just more windfall for the insurance corporations even though they rail against it. Behind closed doors they lick their chops and rub their hands together at the billions they will reap from this heap of bullshit.
E tu, democrats?
And don't expect Obama to come out for robust "public option." He has been trying to torpedo it in favor for triggers for weeks now.
Stellaa, I admire your diligence in all this and especially with going to posts done by rightists and responding to them, responding to their "points" (and, of course, here in your own blog). It all exhausts me (and, thank god, it's not even my concern, being Canadian).
