Halloween Images One Week After

Rate: 22 Flag

My friend, Chris, has an unbelievable collection of the Day of the Dead figures and other Halloween trinkets.  Collections of such items tend to be dull and commercialized.  Yet, she manages to pick beautiful pieces and she creates quite a seasonal mood.

You should see her Christmas and Easter collections.

She has collected items from her travels and of course, she is easy to shop for.....

So hard to get a picture of this flamenco lady.  I would have liked to move her, but we live in earthquake country and she has it fixed down.

till next year, I wonder what she will find and add to the collection.  In the wrong hands, this kind of Holiday decorating could be all wrong.

(the pictures here are only of about 25% of the collection)

oh man, I love that skeleton costume! That kid wins as far as I'm concerned. (It wasn't a ready-made costume, was it?)
Ooh, great pix. I love Halloween and also Day of the Dead stuff, although I also find it a bit creepy at times. I've been getting more and more interested in the images of skulls. I recently saw an old rosary with skull beads on it -- that was very interesting. never saw one of those when I was growing up Catholic!
Actually I don't know. But the devil's makeup was incredible.
wow what a collection. particularly love all of it (I almost said the little figurines but then I scrolled by that giant skeleton) I envy your proximity to mexico and the southern americas, where they KNOW how to do all saints day and halloween. there have not been any halloweens up here that come close to what we had in CA. in CA it's better than Christmas!
What a wonderful collection of evocative images!
Wow she takes this "holiday" quite seriously. Nice pics.
Fabulous. Now you made ME smile.
That carving is amazing!
It really is mesmerizing and childlike feeling when looking at these figures.
This is one of the things I miss about California. I haven't met a soul in Washington who is appreciative of this wonderful stuff. There was a wonderful shop down in Half Moon Bay called Mi Tierra that had some very well made Day of the Dead stuff, but now the shop is in new hands. I never missed going into that shop to look when I was down there.

I don't think I ever met anyone who had a better collection than your friend Stellaa, beautiful and so are your photos.
really really fabulous stuff. i love the woman with her hands in the air and the big seated skeleton with the red beaded necklace. great pics and lighting, too!
Fabulous collection and your pictures really bring them to life, er death, ah you know what I mean.
That.....was.....AWESOME! If I had even half that collection I'd be happy! Thanks for the pics of your friends stuff!
what a collection! I love that devil marching band
Nice. This is a woman with fine tastes!
Really, I love the "folk art" stuff. You cant buy it in Target, you've gotta find it on the road.
Nice collection. My friends and family are also big fans of death. In the abstract, of course.

Whoops. Damned internet!
Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us.
BTW, is your friend a "dead head"? lol
Now that's what I call true Halloween spirit! Cool photos.
The skeletal mariachis define the word "weird"...
That was fun! I loved the Three Man Mexican Skeleton Band in the beginning and that chrome skull I could easily find a use for. Maybe bolt it to front fender of my Harley. Hehe. I always marvel at those who break out all the goodies for every holiday. Where do they keep all that stuff?
Love the chrome skull.
Hey! There's Waldo!

Your friend has a lovely collection. (I want to steal the flamenco lady)

Waldo made it waaaay to easy.
