The neocons are back in town.

Neocons 1

Frankly, I didn’t expect to see the chickenhawks return so soon after the midterm elections.  The supposed “euphoric rebirth” of the conservative movement must have somehow released them from their cages.

We’ve all seen George W. Bush pimping his new book.  Bush was never a die-hard neocon.  He merely served as their pushover puppet – installed to implement their imperialistic agenda.  Once out of office, however, his role in the group diminished considerably.  He’s left to build his legacy based on his "good ole boy" charm that got him into office in the first place.

It’s sad, really, to see him continue with his WMD lie.  But then again, who can blame him for trying to bury this lie that has cost a trillion dollars and thousands of American lives – not to mention causing tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi deaths and creating millions of Iraqi refugees.

Donald Rumsfeld has also returned to the public spotlight recently.  His new book “Known and Unknownwill be released soon.   The book title is taken from his infamous speech about “known knowns”, “known unknowns” and “unknown unknowns" in Iraq:

I wonder if he’ll address his “known” torture of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib in his book – something that we all “know” he “knew” even though he has yet to admit that he “knew” anything about it.

Expect to see Rumfeld faithfully promoting the neocon talking points on the Fox News Channel for quite some time.

It is not just the Fox News Channel that is beginning to re-trumpet the neocon cause.  It appears that the mainstream media are also getting on board.  Earlier this week The New York Times published an op-ed by John Yoo and John Bolton, two of the most outspoken chickenhawks in the Bush administration.  Yoo and Bolton appear to be re-sharpening the swords of nuclear warfare.  Their op-ed worships the expansion of American imperialism through the use of force – No surprise there.

Even Paul Wolfowitz, the King of the Neocons, has returned to the media.  Yesterday, BBC World News had an interview with Wolfowitz to obtain his views on Obama’s recent speech in Indonesia.  Inasmuch as Paul once served as the US Ambassador to Indonesia, he provided some informative insights into the Indonesian “Experiment of Democracy,” and how it may affect other Muslim nations in the world.

Now that he has re-gained the spotlight, it will only be a matter of time before Paul begins re-preaching the Oracle of PNAC - the neocon bible.

In fact, all of the neocons are anxiously awaiting the rise of the PNAC Phoenix from the ashes left by the Bush administration.  As William Rivers Pitt once said:

“Above all else, PNAC desires and demands one thing: The establishment of a global American empire to bend the will of all nations.  They chafe at the idea that the United States, the last remaining superpower, does not do more by way of economic and military force to bring the rest of the world under the umbrella of a new socio-economic Pax Americana.”

These people are merely setting the stage for installing their next pushover puppet in the White House in 2012.

I agree about Bush. His grievous error was including them in his inner circle and giving them the power to turn us into a renegade nation, with the torture and all...But Bush himself never was as destructive a human being as his cronies. My view, anyway...
God , I wish this guy would dissipate ! Hot air, gas and pure evil...

I think that when a person lies so often they start to believe it is the truth- Bush I think is living a whole different life than the one he is actually living!

A more correct label would be

NEOGOONS
Good post Steven.

I really don't think the neocons were ever very far out of the picture, simply because ALL politicians are merely puppets of the true rulers of the world - the elite class. The ruling elite, through joint lobbying efforts create a consensus of direction "they" want to see the developed and developing countries to turn and I find it hard to believe that politics is much more than smoke and mirrors to keep us occupied and diverted from what’s really happening in the world.

What else could explain a Dubya or a Palin or an O'Donnell and yes, an Alvin Greene who actually garnered 31% of the votes for a U.S. Senate seat (South Carolina) and most other such morons finding themselves in the mainstream political spotlight (and we seem to have a hell of a lot of them) when they would, under normal circumstances, be hard-pressed to get their names in the police blotter for committing a crime? We rarely, if ever have something other than bad or worse to choose from. Our votes do in fact get them to the seats of government, but nothing beyond that truly happens, rather it’s business as usual.

What else could explain the abject failure of a totally Democrat-ruled government for the last two years? Hell, they couldn’t even agree amongst themselves for months on the single most important work they had – health care and when they finally did, it was a complete sellout to the insurance industry. We’re still in Afghanistan and Iraq (regardless of the much publicized troop removal, we’ll always be there, that was the whole purpose to begin with, to have yet another country bearing a U.S. military presence. We’ll always be in Afghanistan too), the government continued bailouts of corrupt corporate America long after King George II was gone, etc….

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t “blame” the Democrats, I just don’t see that they or any other party as more than a sham that we’ve all been sucked into and are now paying dearly for.
Thanks Bob,

"We rarely, if ever have something other than bad or worse to choose from."

No truer words have been spoken.
