HuffPost Interviews Ms. Stim

Rate: 9 Flag

As mentioned in the previous post, The Huffington Post interviewed Ms. Stim about our trip to France.  The French village of Le Cardonnois unveiled a memorial honoring Ms. Stim's father along with the nine other crewmen whose B-17 was shot down over occupied France on February 8, 1944.  Representatives from most of the crew's families attended, including the widow of Abe Rosenthal, the only crew member who died that day.

The HuffPost article is mostly accurate.  I don't have my HTML cheatsheet, so you will have to click through the pedestrian link.

Fascinating story. Looking forward to Linda's book.
Too sweet!! And of course, rated!
Wow. You and your family are really part of history. Looking forward to more.
Amazing! I too look forward to reading Linda's book.
To all: Over the years this little story has made us members of two extended families in France, allowed us to meet people who displayed more courage than I will ever know in my lifetime, and a real life countess offered us faux Cheetos in her chateau.
Congrats! Saw that piece as I skimmed and didn't realize the connection. Will go back!!
I just read the link, and what a fascinating story! Kudos to your wife for maintaining this wonderful link to the past. I envy you for that connection, and for your friendship with the descendants of Msr. Coulon.
I've enjoyed Linda's continuing exploration of this story, and I'm also looking forward to her book.

BTW, here's a clickable link to the Huffington Post story.
Argh. So much has been going on in my real life lately that I've had less time on OS. And that means I miss posts I really, really wanted to read! This was one of them. Going to the article link now....
Just read the article - how moving and wonderful. I am so happy your wife got a chance to meet the man who saved his father - and I'm so agreeably surprised that she's stayed in touch with the family all these years - I think that happens so rarely, as distance comes between us so often, despite strong connections we have with people. Thanks for sharing this inspiring story, and I'm sorry I wasn't able to get out to meet up with you while you guys were in France.
