The Club of Rome and the New World Order

Rate: 8 Flag
Lyndon LaRouche

Lyndon LaRouche

(This is the third of four blogs about the Club of Rome, which along with Bilderberg, the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations, is an important think tank in the Round Table network of world elites. Bill Clinton’s mentor Carroll Quigley describes their history and function in his 1966 book Tragedy and Hope.)

Lyndon LaRouche seems to be the main source of claims that the Club of Rome (COR) is part of a 300 year old secret sect called the Illuminati and is responsible for a variety of depopulation schemes, as well as a plot to establish a one world government. As cult expert Dennis King describes in Lyndon Larouche and the New American Fascism, LaRouche began adulthood as a leftist and in the 1980s became a right wing fascist and would be FBI/CIA informant (see http://lyndonlarouchewatch.org/review3.htm). Much of the inflammatory language on New World Order (NOW) sites is attributed to the Club of Rome but actually originates in LaRouche publications. This material is then repeated on numerous conspiracy websites, citing the COR, rather than LaRouche as the original source.

One example is the 1980 “Global Future: A Time to Act,” which stresses the importance of enacting population policies. Numerous New World Order websites claim this report calls for sterilization and abortion. The report, available from Law Digital Commons, makes no mention whatsoever of either sterilization or abortion (see Global Future: A Time to Act). This false claim actually originates from a 1982 article in LaRoche’s Intelligence Review called “Global 2000: Blueprint for Suicide.”

These right wing conspiracy sites also frequently misquote a 1980 report by Club of Rome member Harland Cleveland, a former US Ambassador to NATO, as calling for deliberate genocide of “useless eaters” in third world nations. The actual source of this statement isn’t the Club of Rome, but a 1984 publication by Hela Zepp and Lyndon LaRoche entitled The Hitler People.

Do Corporations Fund Right Wing Conspiracy Websites?

The owners of these right wing conspiracy websites are often dismissed as deluded paranoids. However the consistency of the messages promoted suggests a more sinister and coordinated propaganda agenda. In my view these sites play an important role in discrediting legitimate academic and journalistic research into genuine conspiracies (also known as SCADS or State Crimes Against Democracy). Moreover blaming all the ills of the world on secretive fraternal groups, be they the Illuminati, the Freemasons, the Rothschilds or the Knights of Malta, is very effective in diverting attention from the far more important role corporate lobbies play in controlling the so-called democratic governments of industrialized countries. By making public the names of banks and corporations who are subverting democratic government, grassroots activists have the ability to organize and thwart their influence. However there isn’t a whole lot any of us can do about anonymous global elites who meet in secret. I have a strong hunch the sites that promote these cabalistic conspiracies, like the climate change denial sites, receive major support from right wing corporate types. Their intent, in my view, is to neutralize the growing anticorporate movement, which surely represents a major threat to their domination of Congress and the White House.

How Round Table Elites Exert Their Antidemocratic Influence

Obviously none of this negates the reality that the Club of Rome is predominantly an antidemocratic group run by corporate elites. Although the membership of the COR and their meetings is a matter of public record, there is no question that regular meetings between lawmakers and corporate elites have major influence on government policy. At the same time, we need to be really clear how the Club of Rome, like the World Economic Forum, Bilderberg, the Council of Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission exert this influence. As think tanks, they have major influence over the mainstream media and academic and government debate. Yet none of the Round Table groups has either the funding nor infrastructure to implement policy – whether related to population control, sustainability, or supranational government – that they advocate in their discussion documents and reports.

Owing to their published views on overpopulation, numerous conspiracy websites blame the Club of Rome for the creation of the AIDS virus as part of a deliberate depopulation strategy. Although a growing body of evidence suggests that HIV may have been created via accidental or deliberate genetic manipulation and that this may have occurred in a Pentagon biological warfare lab, the Club of Rome has never had either the political power or scientific or technical wherewithal to play any direct role in developing biological warfare agents.

To be continued.

If people can be made to believe in angels, devils, spooks and vampires, it is only natural that the more rational part of the human spectrum where at least actual indications of human manipulation exists can fit this to a pattern of weird controllers. The whole pattern of 9/11 dovetailed so neatly with the agendas of the Bush administration that it is not highly irrational to suspect dirty doings everywhere.
Who ever is funding these sites is probably trying to confuse the issues and then they can throw the rational conspiracy theorists that attempt to do a good job sorting out the details with the nuts. This is just one of many tactics they use to discredit or bury the truth about what they're doing.

I'll have to take a closer look at this after the fourth one.
I know that, as that insane Frank Herbert imagined, "There are wheels within wheels within wheels." Any number of evils could be going on and we will never know about them in our lifetimes.

My concern is with the average human being, who can be as dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to anything beyond their immediate needs and interests. The powers that be are aware of how easily duped, manipulated and convinced people are.

The right wing is doing five things that were planned decades ago: redistribution of national treasure, irreparably conjoined multinational economies, dogmatic repetition of principles like the corporation as a person, oppression of dissent, and racial, religious or political division as the easiest and quickest way to set the most people against each other.

None of this is happening by chance and all of this has been policy for the past 40 years.

This is a fabulous post. Brave you for bringing up the idea that conspiracy is real, even if we are not clear as to what the conspiracy is.
Lots of food for thought, here. I definitely agree with Jan. I believe it was Adam Smith who first mentioned (in the Wealth of Nations) that corporate leaders like to meet together and hatch plans (some of which involved government) to further their interests. So apparently it's real and has been real for a long time.

I absolutely agree with Zachery that these sites are trying to confuse people and discredit rational conspiracy theorists. I don't know if anyone on the OS recalls the National Enquirer, but that'swhere they used to plant this stuff prior to the Internet. I recall all kinds of bizarre stories about Lee Harvey Oswald's head disappearing from his grave and half the US Senate being space aliens masquerading as homo sapiens. We used to call this stuff "false sponsor" stories. I don't know what they call it now.

Finally Zumalicious raises an interesting point about all the stuff that happens that we don't know about. This raises the question of when it's important to know that someone out there is conspiring to hoodwink you. For example, when they try to persuade you that you're saving democracy by bombing the shit of of Libya, Syria and Iran.
I am especially uneasy about the rapid progress to create some vicious incident to prompt Iran to respond and pull the chain for justifying a massive attack on Iran who, at least at this time, is totally unmotivated to attack anyone. The yapping Israelis who have long lost any validation to attach themselves to claim heritage to the fine old Jewish traditions of empathy for the oppressed and genuine humanitarian motivations have become the vicious attack dogs for the western domination of all vital world resources and the macho possession they have of the hellish atomic armaments implicates a fierce determination to demonstrate Israeli power by callously murdering innocents across the whole area in some weird insane revenge for the Nazi Holocaust. There are definite signs that the USA is vigorously seeking another meaningless outlet for its military rage to promote its armaments industry and the huge supplementary profit grabbing private military forces and their suppliers and Iran seems the likely target. This does not sit well with either Russia nor China who are powers to be reckoned with on the world scene. Iran has already committed th heinous crime of selling its petroleum for other than US dollars, something that keyed in the mess in Libya, and the holy US dollar is set on revenge. The consequences will be frightful as Iran is in an entirely different class from either Iraq or Afghanistan. But Obama is well aware that a president at war has a superior hold on his office as exampled by the transformation of G.W.Bush from an idiot who stole an election to a commanding personality.
The right wing has a much bigger problem in the rest of the world. The fact that they succeeded in making attacking the poor mainstream in the US--openly attacking the poor is still taboo in most of the world-- is an unmatched victory. This was achieved by long-standing right wing funding of the media and clergy. Thank you, Dr. R
