Lost Summer Daydream

Why cold rain drizzling in my open brain
sparks awake jewels that crack and sprout vines
that curl tight around jagged mountain peaks
and pop faces of my mothers and fathers
smiling at me as I eat them and sleep
floating in boat on bobbing river waves
past palaces filled with people and ghosts
but marble walls and pillars disappear
where midnight moonlight drips into my eyes
and spreads rainbows curling around glass sphere
that encloses my mind in dreaming pool
where girls and boys splash and kiss sharing tales
how they walked alone in desolate fields
of shimmering heat in search for ancient book
buried under thick roots of singing tree
so we climb together in tangled web
high above this miniscule spinning world
to snuggle kissing in clouds and eat pears
then drop seeds that crash through cathedral roofs
to sprout new trees in asphalt parking lots
which swallow giant towers of steel and glass
in green waves of warm sunlight on my skin.
