Bobby Flay and I Making Pimento Bacon Cheese Burgers

Rate: 4 Flag

I had a chance recently to do a shoot with Bobby Flay (the chef) for Hellmann's and The Food Network.  They've teamed up to create the "Real Food Project" which is all about making fun, easy, family friendly meals using real ingredients.

I am an actor--but not all of the people who shot these segments are.  Initially I was going in as "Woman", but then they decided to use families, so, I convinced mine to do this with me.  They were really good sports about it!

Here's the video, check it out!  The recipe for the burgers (and some other really great, easy recipes) is on their website:

Susan, what a fun assignment to be involved with! Lots of extra food for everyone present at the filming, I am figuring!
designanator: Yes--everyone there got to sample some. It was a lot of fun!
Thanks Karin! Bobby was very nice in person. I am a vegetarian so eating the burger was kind of weird for me, but it was good and very easy to make. There is a longer version of this on their site. Anyway...the Curtis Stone thing should be up possibly tomorrow. I just finished shooting something else...I'll put a link when that airs, too. I am fortunate to get some work once in awhile. There are a ton of people trying out here--it's way too competitive. Sometimes I think I'm ready to just call it a day, but then I'll get something (even a small something) and I'm raring to go again. :) I am almost done with that book so I'll be focusing more on that in the near future I think.
I use Hellmann's Mayonnaise. Got any coupons?
Larry - I'm so sorry, I do not have any. :( BUT...I did find a cool website that has a ton of coupons. Who knows, maybe there is one for Helmann's in there somewhere. Here's the website. http://print.coupons.com
I'd love to take a kosher hiatus for some good bacon :)

hard to find in Jerusalem
I could even go for some bacon and berry ice cream now
Jerusalem-mike - Are you pregnant? LOL I think you could make a kosher version of these burgers using a non dairy cheese (maybe a vegan cheese) and just forego the bacon. Or you could just cheat and pray for forgiveness later. Isn't there a whole day for atonement? I think you would be safe.
I have this trick with burgers when adding them to my ketchup ( no my juxtaposition is not off!!). I empty about 1/6th of the ketchup bottle into a small sealed container and place it back into the fridge. Then, I add the entire contents of a bottle of tabasco sauce ( sans bottle) into the ketchup bottle . I then 'shake it' for all it's worth ( a man thing you know) and it becomes the tastiest ketchup around. Being an orderly sort, when I see the ketchup-tabasco concoction level going due south in the bottle, I open up the sealed container and add the remaining ketchup back into the bottle. From there, I just 'shake it' again. I might be going blind and have hairy palms, but I sure keep a mean bottle of ketchup in the fridge!!
jarusalem-mike - that sounds like a great idea to me. My son loves hot sauce and he also loves catsup. I'm gonna have to give that one a try. Thanks for the tip!
This was great fun, so glad you are getting some work.
