Some people seem to have all the luck in the world. More than they could ever use up in one life time. Where do they get it? Sometimes they’re born with it—say into a wealthy or well connected family, sometimes they are gifted it by parents who instill in them a sense of confidence and worth right from the get go. Others it seems, have no choice but to make it from scratch.
Here is a recipe I’m working on myself. I’m going to test it out and see if it works. If it does, great. If not…I guess I’ll just keep modifying it until I come up with the right formula.
Luck
In a large bowl mix equal parts of the following:
Courage
Gumption
Nerve (or Chutzpa, the two are interchangeable)
Perseverance
Optimism (comes in a glass, note: if your glass is half empty, then get another glass and try looking at it upside down, a change of perspective sometimes gives you a better view)
Strong work ethic (make sure there is no laziness in the mix as it will ruin the entire batch and you’ll have to start over)
Tenacity
Humor (you can’t add too much of this, the more you add the better)
Timing
Support (you can find this in many different places, and it comes in many different forms)
Wisdom (don’t worry if you don’t have much of this, you will find more of it each time you attempt to make this recipe)
Faith (this last one is sometimes difficult to find, but keep on believing that you have it, and then suddenly, you will)
Mix well, until you are happy with the consistency. Mold the mixture into whatever shape you want it to take, and then bake it for as long as it takes to be done. If it never solidifies, don’t worry. Just try the recipe again, and again, and again, until it’s just right.
Note: the recipe makes a rather large amount of luck, so you will have enough for yourself and plenty left over to share with others.
Bon Appetit!
