Your flickr comment seems especially timely in light of your interesting (and gracious) note on my entry for the day. Something about interconnectedness of life.
(thumbified for twirliness)
fyi, I had some fun with your first edition of this post, which disappeared and left me stranded back on my own page.
Squirrel, you are a romantic genius! They do indeed look like a circle of friends. (Don't worry. I'm not about to invite everyone to join me in "We Are the World.")
Speaking of romantics, thank you Jodi, Wife of "The Man." If you don't give marriage a good name, it can't be done.
Sorry, Rich. We'll find something else for you to play with soon :)
Thanks, Sandra and fellow (fella?) MiddleAgedWoman. Glad you like it.
O'Steph, my first thought upon seeing your comment was, "it is always such a pleasure to see you here." My second thought was, "What cover?" How funny that the technical glitch seems to have brought this to the attention of the weekend editor ;p
Y'all go read his current post. Regardless of whether or not you think the topic is your cuppa, the writing is seamless and will carry you along.
Barry, that kind of flattery will get you everywhere. I'm going to show up in your town one of these days and take your whole family out to dinner!!
Steve, these are the small blooms of a jasmine vine that is quite common around here and in parts of Louisiana. Not so sure about elsewhere, but it certainly looks like it might be hardy enough to thrive in relatively cool climates.
Thank you, Buffy and Dorelvis ;p
Thanks, Darryl. Your wife has a really good eye ;)
Darryl, I was trying to figure out how far north they will grow and they are not as hardy as they seem around here, where they are practically weeds. If it gets way below freezing you would need to be able to bring it inside or put it somewhere protected. Worth a try though! They have a wonderful fragrance.
These are not "true" jasmine plants, or so I'm told, but are named jasmine because of their jasmine-like fragrance.
Excellent macro.
and yes. i was thinking bout this pic as i was falling asleep.
Ah, Squirrel. I am truly pleased and flattered that you drifted off to sleep with the image of floral pinwheels dancing before you. Of course, one doesn't need a psych degree (although I do happen to have one) to interpret your dream.
Yes, you and your lovely lady will some day have to drag little Squirrel out of a toy store, or heaven help you, Chuck Up Cheese. Young squirrel will indeed be kicking and screaming. After the hissy fit is over, though, little S will want to be comforted, and will look so soft and vulnerable that your heart will melt like the jello that idiot you are so going to fire left too close to the grill. Then you will go out and buy little squirrel some pinwheels to hold and watch, mouth open in wonder, as it magically spins in the wind.
Tell you what. I will at some point repost the larger version of my avatar, accompanied by that quote from you. Because that is just too good a quote to leave languishing in comments!
These are gorgeous, to me they look like dancers with '70s bell-bottom jumpsuits.
or maybe syncrhonized swimming.
