Great pics, but I especially love their names.
Thanks Julie. These are Humane Society foster kitties. Our friends care for abandoned litters from time to time, and so after our old kitty Emma died, after a year we got these two kitties. Humane Society kitties ROCK.
Aw, so cute. Especially like the one of them napping together. Sam and Lily send greetings up I-5 :)
These photos are awesome! Completely adorable. If none of these made it to the cover either, then clearly I'm in very good company.

Oh, and my cat was a shelter kitty too. They do rock.
Rescued kitties are, I contend, always the best kitties.

Susanne, so sorry we didn't get your cats on the cover. Next time!
They are beautiful! I especially love the scratching post one.
I love all the photos and, as Julie said, the kitties' names. I listened to that album nonstop for a good part of my formative years and, if I do now, I never cease to start singing the next song in order before it starts.

Thanks for the memories and the adorable humane society kitties (I've worked with animal rescue for year so am always heartened to see people doing the right thing).
Wow they are adorable!!
Those are definitely cover cats.

(I hate to take attention away from the kitties, but I also like the sunburst pattern on your porch railing.)
I am thinking everyone might have an idea how long I wanted a Firecat. I didn't know until I got these guys that Teaser has to come along.

Thanks for all your comments. We have a great life up here by Toad Lake.
What a lovely pair they make. And the photos are great. And I agree that rescues are the best. I'm not sure about cats recognizing they've been rescued, but I know many dogs certainly seem to know.

I also agree with Julie about their names.
My two dogs and five birds are all rescues. I don't love them any less for being secondhand.
illiamna,

Our kids have pets from the Humane Society too. I can't imagine doing it any other way now.

I never thought of them being secondhand. I just thought they were on a journey home. And they let us live here still if we keep them in kitty treats and let them out of the deck often enough.
Oh, so cute! What gorgeous kitties they are. We, however, do not have vampire kitties--we have demon kitties. Probably 3rd cousins twice removed or something. ;)

I have to agree that rescues rock. All our cats are rescues. Chance the Persian (aka the Big Puffball) walked in front of our car in an Albertson's parking lot, and we almost hit him. He was an unholy mess after who knows how long on the streets, but the sweetest kitty ever. He does know he has the good life. Lizzie the tortie we adopted from a foster group at 4 months, she'd been spoiled since birth so as far as she knows she has no reason to be grateful, but she is very very lovey. ;) Little Mouse the manx mix was adopted from the Multnomah County shelter when she was 1-2 years old; she is one of the friendliest cats I've ever met and, like Chance, she seems to realize she's got it good now.

The chow/lab mix we lost last year was a street rescue, the DH found him wandering around our neighborhood but could never catch him; one day he brought me along and Jack ran straight to me when I called him. He had been abused, and it took him awhile to completely trust Jeffrey, but me he adored from the start--our catchphrase was "Mommy is the source of all good things." Abby the Border Collie was about to be sent to the pound when we adopted her off Craigslist--she was only 10 weeks old so didn't have those awful street experiences, but she is just the most adorable silly rambunctious black and white rocket ever.

Yes, shelter babies rock. Plus, doing or adopting rescues is good for the soul. And I'm sure it racks up Karma points. :)
I am sure you are right and happy merwoman. quadrapedal furry creatures rescued and brought in as members of a family make for a better family and are excellent company.
Needing a kitty fix, so started perusing the tags - great names for great kitties!
