Low Tide @ Lummi Island with Clue

Rate: 3 Flag

IMG_0042Spring is evident every where we go right now.  So we went to Lummi Island, one of our favorite places to visit, a place that is always on Aidan's list when he comes to stay with us.

The tide was way out...further than we've ever seen.

It was the warmest day on record in Bellingham.  What a great day to play and hike around the Lummi Island shores.

Little tide pools and places that had been hiding sea life for centuries were open to our view.

We saw a multitude of  sea snails, giant barnacles and mussels clinging to the rocks...

A visit to Lummi Island has a tradition that we have been observing since Aidan was old enough to come on trips to visit without his Mom & Dad:  dessert and a Clue game or two at the Beach Store Cafe.

Some family traditions are all about fun, AND DESSERT!

After Aidan wins one and Grama wins one, we make our way back to the car, and then the Ferry Dock

From the Whatcom Chief we can see Mount Baker sixty miles away on the horizon enshrouded in the high clouds.

The Pacific Northwest has its pleasures, a warm Sprig afternoon on Lummi Island is certainly one of them.  To share such a rare day with our grandson was unforgettable.

All photos were taken with my iPhone 3GS.  If only I had steadier hands...

I see you are putting that I Phone to good use Susanne. Great pictures. I'm guessing this was on Saturday! Thanks for sharing.
That looks like a fantastic time!
What an awesome West Coast day! This reminds me that I should start using MY Iphone as a camera.
Growing up in California, I only rode a ferry once to Coronado. It wasn't at all as nice as this! Thanks for coming by...
It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood, aren't we so lucky to live in such a gorgeous part of the world? So many things blooming all over, the forsythia and cherry trees, the hyacinths, tulips and daffodils, it's overwhelming. How fortunate to share such a great day with your grandson. That ice cream sundae looked pretty good too.
Oh boy. Lummi Island looks like a nature museum, with a much yummier cafe, and gift shop where the gifts are free.
The realtor that sold us our house in Ballard (Seattle) has a real estate business there. Her name is Colleen McCrory.

We have thought about retirement there...
it really rained last night and everything has been washed clean. I think even the windshield of the Honda Element lost its bugs and bird doo.

There are daffodils outside my office window and a gorgeous little Rhody that is blooming for the first time in our yard. Spring is particularly lovely this year!
