Mary Ann, George and David Drake
Founders of Big Rock Garden
Extend their gratitude to these special friends who helped to make it real.
You'll have to go to the garden to read the rest my iphone didn't capture the inscription fully.
Here is the modest screen on which those words are written memorializing one family's gift to the city that they have called home. It's pretty inspiring.
Big Rock Garden is one of those special places that give the heart a rest and the legs a place to stretch, the senses a place for absolute delight in nature and in the breadth of artistic imagination.

The artist, Ann Morris is from Lummi Island, one of our family's favorite places to go.

The Drakes created this beautiful place originally as a nursery and art business so that their handicapped son, David, would have a place where he could work and thrive. That alone is 'a breath of fresh air' and the rest, well, there are places that speak well enough for themselves and I believe this is one of them.
Thanks for coming by everyone!

Roy, I really had to learn to work the camera to get that shot, and I wanted it because I adore modern Native American arts.
I am sure there are equally inspiring places where you are Mom, and I know you know how to see them and record what you saw in photos.
Zanelle, thanks for being the first to come and see the garden.
