We are aimless

a little lost

the future unknown.

at a precipice

with no safety net

because you were that

for us.

You led us

with humor

        humility

        and grace

you backed us

       with spine and bone

you coached us

       with your vision.

your faith in us

improved our faith in ourselves.

We know who we are

what we want to accomplish

the direction

we wish to go

you saw it in us

and put us where we needed to be.

So we let you go

with applause and tears.

you will not be far from us

and yet you will be

a step too far away

for safety.
