Well I Never!

Rate: 12 Flag

The hotel chain ‘Holiday Inn’ in the UK has begun offering their customers a bed warming service. In light of the recent cold snap that has left the usually mild and soggy Britain gasping for breath and shivering in its wellies, the hotels thought it would be a nice step to help lonely travelers nod off at night.

You see, according to Dr Chris Idzikowski of the Edinburgh Sleep Centre, evidence shows that sleep starts when a person’s body temperature begins to drop. So, getting into a cold bed completely buggers things up for the 40 winks process.

Not a big deal you may say. Well no, not a big deal at all if the hotel staff were just popping into your room to turn on an electric blanket or install a hot water bottle to get the bed at a reasonable temperature to not upset the delicate body temp.

However, staff at the Holiday Inn’s Kensington Hotel in London will be doing no such thing. On the contrary, these over zealous and dedicated individuals will be going above and beyond the call of duty by donning a full body sleeper suit and getting into your bed! Yes, you read that correctly. For a full five minutes before you tuck yourself in you can have a complete stranger in your bed making it nice and toasty for you.

I’ve booked myself in. Seriously, I can’t wait to have someone lay in my bed filling it with their hair, skin, smell and gas (they may have eaten something that doesn’t agree with them - you never know do you?). That’s just the thing to encourage a peaceful nights’ sleep!

Now that you've spilled the beans, I'm sure their customers will be beating a path to their door!
Now thats a job I could do. Warming up beds for people. I've been thrown out of furniture stores for doing the same thing!
I love what scanner said. As for me, thanks but no thanks.
I'd prefer a nice hot water bottle, thank you very much!
Judy: I'm sure of it!

Scanner: Send in your application! I'm sure they'd hire you in a New York minute.

Joan: I'm with you!

Alan: Or an electric blanket.
I always thought the slow warming of the bed from my own body heat was really helpful to fall asleep -- getting all snuggly and nodding off.

This should be in News of the Weird.
IT was in the Strange News section on the Sky News site lol.
Isn't it funny how fads never die, they just wait a few hundred years and come back around again. A Bedwarmer was the norm in England and over here in the Colonies back in the 18th century.

Maybe Holiday Inn is run by some History buff.
Wow, you're looking good for your age Tor! Tehe.

Thanks for the info though, I didn't know that.
I wonder how much extra it would cost to keep them in your bed for longer than the 5 minute warm up period? You know someone else is thinking this too.
Are any of these bed warmers, say, women? Scantily clad?
I can't beat what blu said.
Rated.
GJI: I'm sure some of the staff have got a price list figured out lol.

John: If you asked nicely I'm convinced you could get your way!

Gwendolyn: Doesn't it just?

Thoth: I agree lol.
I do this for my wife for free!
