Geraint and I have some fantastic news to share with you, news some of you should be expecting, well, most of you actually. On Thursday 4th March the two of us were married!
We were joined in Bahrain by two witnesses (which had to be male...) and another friend of ours fully prepared to step into the breach should anything detain one of the others or to act as photographer should all go to plan. All did not go to plan. After a smooth morning preparing my hair, make-up and outfit the last thing that ever crossed my mind that would go wrong happened.
How many of you lovely married folk out there ever thought to prepare a contingency plan in case the person officiating your wedding didn’t show up? I’m willing to bet that not many of you did. We always knew the actual wedding itself would be a very simple affair, and being in the Middle East we should have been ready for anything and everything. However, after one of our witnesses getting lost and stuck in traffic on the way I was not ready to be told that the gentleman who was meant to be marrying us was not there!
Let me tell you all, I have no idea how I kept from crying. We weren’t asking for the moon and stars, we weren’t even asking for a horse drawn carriage and huge reception, just the two of us and a few words that led to a piece of paper that proved we were one person more than we were two. But at 10am on Thursday not a soul in the Notary Office of Bahrain was remotely aware of the fact that we were supposed to be getting wed and due to a family death the only person who did was nowhere to be seen and had left no instructions.
However, as this is a good news post I shall spare you the details of how one of us or both of us nearly ended up serving time in a Bahraini prison for GBH. Eventually the problem was solved and things progressed as they should – meaning we were married and I am now Mrs. Isitt!
As we were awkward and got married on a day where many of our friends had to work, we spread the celebrations out over two days with a wedding lunch, and wedding dinner and a champagne brunch on the following day. To share our day(s) with those of you who couldn’t be with us (family included – we love you and missed you) here a few pictures.
Waiting for everything to be orgnised after the drama.
Relieved and ready to enjoy the day!
How many people can say they were married by someone in a thobe and ghuttra?!
The happy couple and our witnesses - just before the first bottle of champagne!
The lunch party.
Our first dance.
Second day - second dress!
Don't I have the most gorgeous husband?
Enjoying the start of our married life.
Happiness.
Posing and enjoying another dance.
A ray of sun in a sand storm at the end of the day.
And then it was all over and back to normal, only slightly more special.
TTFN,
Mrs. Kirsty Isitt

Congratulations!!!!
May your marriage be long and happy.
I am so happy for you both. Now you have a lifetime of taking care of each other. Enjoy every minute of it. Next is a baby Penguin. I need to keep the family name alive. Marilyn and I were thinking of you all the time you were in Bahrain. I do not know if our love was transmitted to you, but be assured we tried to be there with you in spirit. I will gently explain to the thousands of young lovelies over here that Ger is now unavailable. I am so very happy that he has had the good fortune to be with such a lovely young lady, and am proud that you have decided to be a part of our crazy family.
Thank you Kirsty, and the pictures are great.
Love Mam and Dad
