- I started this blog after a year with breast cancer at age 39, my husband and I being laid off and a home foreclosure....needless to say I was soul searching! However, there's a light at the end of every tunnel. I'm still trying to find my next career, but the rest of my life is back on track and now I'm just babbling on Open Salon!!!!

Raising Non-Misogynists
It ain't easy given the media these days, but I try my hardest to raise women/ human loving boys. I have two of them 12 and 17 and they get filled with weird non-truths about women and I keep pouring out the flies in the punch that fill their brains. … Read full post »
Rant in Support of Little Pink (or Blue) Boots Everywhere
The kids left the table after Christmas dinner leaving my dad, step-mom, my husband and I to drink and talk. I was telling my dad about a friend whose third grader was just taken to the principals office twice in the last month. Once, because he was raising his fingers to… Read full post »

A True Christmas Miracle...when did this happen?
I don't know when it happened...I'm calling it a Christmas gift, but I think that it happened slowly through many years and I just noticed it this Christmas...
My sons like each other.
After years of talking to them about each other's merits and thinking no one was listening and… Read full post »

Women's Mid-Life Career Crisis
“Go to college and be able to support yourself. It’s important for young woman.” As a junior high and high school student of the 80’s that’s what I heard loud and clear from my parents. College wasn’t a choice in my mind, but an essential.… Read full post »
The Soloist A Review/Self Reflection
This movie affected me. It made me think on so many levels. I could see myself in both Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey’s characters' . Let me start with a quick overview. Robert Downey plays an LA reporter Lopez who does a column in the LA Times about a homeless man/… Read full post »
Screw The Things I Should Do
I’ve stopped blindly doing the things I should (or should not) do. Who decided on the “should do” list? Isn’t everything always changing and so what I should have done 10 years ago may no longer apply? And aren’t we all different? Here are a few e/… Read full post »
Dear Abby, My son wears paper shoes and his underwear?
I opened the freezer today and found plastic army men frozen head down in an ice tray. Next to that was a Tupperware full of golf balls, toothpicks and rubber bands frozen in green ice. It didn’t faze me I knew Truman was doing one of his “experiments”. So I pushed… Read full post »
Secrets
Everyone has secrets. Some are big, some are little. Frank Warren has turned secrets into a community art project and taken them to a whole new level of awareness. Save My Sex Life!
I didn’t have an emotional attachment to my ovaries until they were in jeopardy. I’ve never been the girl so in touch with her body she knew she was ovulating. When I was angry and irritable I just thought I was in a bad mood I didn’t realize it was PMS. … Read full post »
