Bio
I have been a lifelong opponent of Zionism. Don't tell me about anti-Semitism. I got plenty of that as a kid! I am very sad that after all the harm that our knee jerk support of Israel has caused us, we persist. Why? Oh why do we intend to veto the Palestinian request to be recognized as a state? We insist on "negotiations." But states don't negotiate with committees, they negotiate with states. Remember. Israeli PM Shamir, on leaving office said, I could talk for 10 years and in the meantime we would have half a million more settlers. If you're curious you can see my autobiography at http://filebox.vt.edu/users/tampsa/ I strongly recommend this site: http://www.israeli-occupation.org/

The NY Times Jerusalem Analyst Struggles

Rate: 0 Flag

In the NY Times today Ethan Bronner writes a “News Analysis” where he succeeds in saying at the same time, “A not B but anyhow B.” Here’s a quote from his analysis:

"The Israeli position defies a brutal truth: last year’s flotilla made a big difference for the people of Gaza — at a terrible cost in lives — by refocusing international attention on their plight and forcing a change in Israeli policy. Today, twice as many goods enter from Israel as before. Nonetheless, Gaza remains a deeply sad and deprived place." (Emph. added, M.N.)

Anybody who has studied elementary math knows that twice zero is still zero. The amount allowed to enter Gaza before Flotilla 1 was deliberately designed by Israel to be at a minimum subsistence level, which has been slightly loosened, Bronner’s last sentence is terribly true, “Gaza remains a deeply sad and deprived place.”

 The truth will out!
