Mom and the interview thing

Rate: 35 Flag

(I wanted to thank ePriddy for my interview.  Her questions were so thoughtful and thought provoking.)

"What's up with the crazy diary people?"

"Oh.  One of them did a lovely interview with me.  It was so nice."

"An interview?  What about?"

"Well mainly about writing and about my feelings on the diary site."

"Anything about me?"

"Of course Mom, I write about you."

"What about me?"

"...ah... Well, it was more about the process I use to write about you."

"The process?  You type on your notebook computer with that confusing square that moves the flashing thing.  What's to know about the process?  What do they type on?"

"Mom, 'process' means how you go about thinking up the story and telling the story."

"What's to think?  You write down what I say then you're done."

"It's sad how much that's a correct assessment."

"They should know more about me."

"No, Mom... I don't think..."

"They should write me questions about the things they want to know about me."

"Mom, I'm not sure...."

"It's the least I can do.  Tell them they can ask me anything."

"Mom, the problem is I might not want to hear everything."

"Don't be silly.  You tell them."

::sigh::

[ring]

"Hello this is your daughter."

"Hello this is your mother.  I just talked to Tansy and Lousie, they want to be interviewed too.  Thelma threw a potholder at me.  I think that's a yes.  So tell them they can ask questions to them too.  Promise me you'll do it."

"Well this is just going to be so... so... something."

****

Okay, so here's the deal you depraved diary people,  is there something you would like to ask the ladies?  Please bear in mind that I really hope this post fades quickly and dies in the feed, but I promised to do it.  So here it is.

Could I please be the first one to ask for more information about the tongue balls?
Decadent Sundae took my question, so I'll have to ask how Bob is. Any more M & M gifts we should know about?
Did any of the ladies participate in adult relations prior to marriage?

Did any of the ladies participate in adult relations outside their marriage?

If they had to do it over again, would they watch "Kill Bill" 1 or 2 or no to either one?

Any advice about menopause?

Will everything "down there" really dry up?

Is drinking (alcohol) underrated?

And finally: Does size matter?
I so told Mom this wasn't a good idea....
so many questions, so little time.
Does size stay the same over time or does it shrivel with the man and the skin?
What, EXACTLY, happened with that pot roast in '61?
off the top of my head t i cant come up with anything but that might be because ive been up for almost 40 straight hours. im getting too old for that..
but you know this wont just disapear in the feed
In reference to movies, what is their favorite movie? Favorite movie star? Favorite starlet? Did any of them live through the Depression? What was that like? (There's an open ended question, huh?)

I'm going to stick to nicer questions or I might start blushing and then where would we be?
If you stop hormone replacement therapy, do you start thinking like a man?
I think this is a swell idea! I would like to know, from each of them, what movie do they think that *we* should see?
Some of these I already know the answer to... but I'm going to shut up and let them say it.
I would like to know more about your mom and Bob, too. Intimate stuff. All the juicy details. Ha ahahahahaha.

And if Thelma and Louise have seen that movie about them. And what they think about that!
Oh, no. I'm not letting this fade out. No way.

Did any of them every keep a diary? Did they ever read it to anyone? Did they ever read someone else's dairy? If they did, did they find out something juicy? Anybody having any hot affairs there?

I think that's it. For now.
Loved the Priddy interview! I want to know if any of the ladies really fancy Bob. And do they think he pees that much or is it something else?
Does Bob really need to tinkle that much, or does he duck into the john for a quick hit on a doobie?
Do they have a happy hour there or is it called something else?
Your mom is becoming one of my most memorable characters.
All the questions are great, so far. Having been one of the diary people that has followed this movie, buffet, target, forbidden snack, saga, my questions are as follows;

Most memorable experience with a famous person. Who and when.

Favorite cuss word.

Favorite, forbidden snack. Got any now? Hid?

Best memory from childhood that always makes ‘em giggle

First car they “made-out” in.

First movie they saw.

Were they ever on TV? Why?

What is the stupidest thing one of your kids every did. (you might have a problem with this one. ….better take a tape recorder.)

Ever skinny dip? With who and where?

Who would you come back to life for, just to haunt ‘em?

If the great fairy of life sprinkled magic dust to change one thing about themselves, what would it be?

For mom: Did you ever go to bar in Dallas called the “Red Horse”?

This is great! Tell, Mom the dairy people are soooo looking forward to hearing about 'em!
What do you want from the diary people?
i want to know your mom's favorite story of you when you were a little girl, please.

and your favorite story of her, when you were a little girl, too, please.
and i would like to know her scaredest moment with you - bc moms worry, as we all know.
Please,

Sit the ladies down and do the Pivot Questionnaire with them, let them discuss it, then maybe ask them what they'd ask if they had their own Questionnaire they'd like to share with the Diary People.

I'm so sorry. Best of luck to you!
Sorry, I ducked out. We're enjoying a rousing round of the stomach 'flu here.

I'm dumping all the questions into a document right now.
dicea, thanks for the suggestion. That might really make a nice ramp up to the rest of the questions.

Now I'm off to play another game of hurl.
My question: What would they consider to be the best times in their lives?
What did they get in trouble for when they were kids, and do they still do it?
Do any/all of you ladies have some wild memories from the past that now make you smile in a way that makes your children curious?
How do you live with the same person (spouse/partner) for all those decades?
Is there anything I can get your Mom, or any of the ladies from up here in Bellingham? What would it be and why would they want it?

Actually, it could be from anywhere along I5 on the way down...
What is the best and the worst thing about growing older?
What's their advice for parents everywhere?

How does your mom feel about being a "surrogate mom" or "surrogate grandma" to the diary people? (or at least, me! LOL)

What was your biggest disaster in the kitchen?

If you could have had any career, what would it be?

Is it (life) everything you thought it would be?
ooh! ooh! such good questions! dicea, excellent idea to have them interview the diary people!
~Are all your children from the same father?
~Any regrets?(in life, not about children....then again...)
~Is there an active sex life/drama going on in the community?
~If you could change one thing about your husband/s what would you change/have changed?
~Is sex overrated? Underrated?
~Do you believe in spanking?(children...spouse...)
~What advice do you have for kids today?
~What's the most amazing thing that has happened in your lifetime?
nothin' like looking at your own comments in the morning.....
Voicegal, don't we have cows? ::sigh:: that's what I get for typing after cocktails!

Besides wedding, what's the most expensive dress they ever had? For what occasion?

When did they feel most beautiful?

Have they ever wore a tiara? (Before Mom's for Bob)
Will your mom go out with me? I'm sure the future Mrs. Wonderhorse won't mind - it will at least get me out of her hair for a few hours.
I have nothing to add, because there are already so many great questions. I just want this blog-whored all over the place once they answer the questions.
Well, I already know the best compliment your Mom ever got, and that post nearly made me pee my pants laughing...

We know she never did the mouth thing with your Dad, but would she do it now? And how does Bob feel about this? And does the mouth thing count as a trip to Barnes and Noble, or is it just reading a few chapters?
your troll is out of control!

She just went all mid-eville on me in your interview comments!
She is jealousing. She has got deep seated anxiety of being overlooked in favor of these old lady inteviews!

She is saying that HER HER HER interview is going to be the most awesome interview ever!

Maybe you should have HER interview the old ladies.

She was mean to me, crying was involved!
(Well, me making other people cry, and not directly related to the events, but INVOLVED!)

PS
As an actual old broad, in my heart if not my years, I am very pleased to say that having just scratched the surface very lightly, you have uncovered a yawning chasm of interest in nursing home life, old people, moms, and family and person history. It is like the proverbial eyebrow, everybody's got one, especially Italians.
All the questions I had have already been asked.

I'm surprised at how interested I am in what they have to say. They are fascinating to me.
What a dumbass I am! My first question was not like what I had in my head! I meant: Is T&D a secret love-child?
Of course all the questions are meant to torture the interviewer.
Oh no. This can't die ;0)

Tansy, Louisie, Thelma, and Mom,

If the four of you could take a road trip anywhere you wanted Thelma and Louise style where would you go and what would you like to do?
I just want to say, T & D, that your posts have come to mean a lot to me, personally. You see, my mother is not.. well.. all there upstairs and has no mother instincts and I can't have contact with her. Your posts are like a breath of fresh air!!!

Ask you mom what is the funniest thing you did when you were a child. Are there photos? Sorry I had to ask that.
What is the most scandalous thing you've ever done... secretly or openly?
Were you honest with your child/children about the facts of your own life?

What do you most regret not having done, yet?
I don't know how I've missed your posts with your lovely conversations with your mother and son. My mother lives in my backyard and I still have an 18 year old at home. Are you sure our mothers are not related? Mine's almost 88, and DRIVES. I'm anxious to hear about your mom's answers.

My mom is totally focused on "her" birds-- and in fact thought they might die if she didn't get feed for them RIGHT AFTER Hurricane Gustav. Does your mother have a thing about birds?

We eat dinner together. Her evening recap of the day's news is fascinating and often missing lots of very important information. Presently she's fascinated about the "AIG thingy and the contract that was the government's fault." Does your mom listen to the news? If so, what is her current favorite topic?
Here's my question:

"Is it true that you can take the girl out of Texas, but never take Texas out of the girl?"
Which is creepier: children's dolls with genitals, or children's dolls that have apparently had a tiny belt sander applied to all the interesting bits?
I can't WAIT for this interview with the ladies! I'm giddy with excitement!

(now you have to do it! HA!)
More proof that the editors have a sense of humor. Ask your mother if she'd consider getting the tongue ball. Or any other piercing, for that matter.
The way these questions are going, just administer the purity test to them and get all the questions over with.

http://puritytest.net/
Don’t know if someone already asked this, but I’d want to know what each of their greatest (personal) love stories were – one each, no holds barred.
This is excellent. What a broad spectrum - just to balance out the more, ahem, delicate questions, here are some G/PG related ones.

Questions for the ladies (somewhat book & movie related, so we can better understand the whole movie-review/ratings system):

- Which character from Divine Secrets of the Ya-Yas do they most relate to?

- What did they think of Pretty Woman (the movie)?

- If she were to write a novel, what would be the primary plot? Describe her main character.

- What was their favorite age to be? Why?

and, well, yeah, I wanna know about all the other stuff, too. See, we are proving our depravity :-)
If any of the diary people were coming to town and wanted to meet you, would you want to meet them, or would you avoid them like the plague? And why? Or, does the answer depend on who it is?
And, since you know we're "listening", do you edit your comments? If so, how? To be nicer? Meaner? Funnier?
I'm still here, reading the questions as they come in. I promise I will ask each one.

I'm thinking though, that some of these might need a longer format that just an interview. I'll see if a question strikes one of the ladies as interesting enough to expand into a post.

Thanks for all the interest. I do appreciate it. The ladies will love this.
At what point in their lives did they realize they had finally become comfortable with who they are and didn't give a damn what anyone else thought? Because I think I might be on the cusp and I want to know if their lives were suddenly a lot happier.
Would they rather have a fro (A really big one!) or be shaved bald? Why?
I would like to know
1) What is the best story she remembers about her Grandmother
2) What is her favourite recipe - and please share it with us, if its the chicken and dumplings, she needs to tell a meal related story
How did I miss this? Now I've got to see if you've posted an interview yet--though wait! Your Internet interruptus may have delayed this.
