I'm trying to get drummed off of OS - photo alert

Rate: 67 Flag

So yesterday I posted some bad poetry, and today I'm posting pictures of flowers.  Subconsciously, I might be trying to work up a good shunning from the community (or non-community, as the case may be).

I got a new camera.  A Sony Cyper-shot DSC-T77.  That's the last time I'll remember its name.  For those of you curious, click HERE and you can find some information on the camera.

I had an older version of this camera about two years ago.  It slowly pooped out.  I basically freaked out when this camera was dying.  Some of my flickr friends (that includes Barry) chipped in and surprised me with a replacement camera.  That was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me.  That camera was great but it lacked one thing, the micro macro setting.  And like many a country song will tell you, you don't know what you have 'til you ain't have it no more.

What it boils down to is that I bought myself a new camera - even though I didn't really need it.  Freaky told me that I've been guiltying about it - but not so guiltying that I haven't made a pest of myself at the local chain store nursery department.  Here's my latest batch of pictures using that setting - maybe you can see why I was so selfish that I snatched food from my child's mouth to buy this thing:

Tubes

Yellow submarine

light and dark

flutes

flash

dot

curled

fuzzy butt

wishing star

(If Mom finds out I'm abusing the "diary" with this prattle, she really will fire me.)

ok so im not usually into the whole extreme close up, but wow!
thats a damn good camera and #5 and the last one are my favorites and not just bc they are purple flowers..
#5 is bc well thats an awesome pictre, the colors and balance, just love it

thats ok if yur getting kicked off im going down to.. i just posted a mushy love song kinda post..
I got this camera on sale for about $250. I'm too scattered for a "big girl" camera. You need to ask Barry if you're thinking of getting a dslr cam. The lens cost alone for those things would make me pass out.
Oh dear Barbra anne, what have we come to?
A woman after my own heart. =o) My cute little Nikon digital camera is one of the best Christmas presents I ever got. An flowers are one of my favorite things to photograph. I have to laugh at myself though. I've had this camera since December 2007. Wanna know when I discovered "Hey wow, this thing takes close ups, too!"? At a friend's wedding, three weeks ago.

But flowers are fascinating things when you look at them at close range--extremely intricate. Or maybe I'm just saying that because I don't know what it's really like to get stoned. =o)
These are gorgeous. Can I make #5 my desktop background? I fell instantly in love. I could pay you in imaginary money and tangible good will.
Oh God -- I WANT it! I put off getting digital for years, then finally gave in and have like 5,000 photos already and LOVE it -- Mine is a Canon 550 or something like that, and it takes wonderful shots, but not the close-up shots (like these) so that I end up with blurry flower shots when really I want detail. Yeah, yeah, I know, people are starving and I'm like, Can I just spend my money on a camera that does amazing close-ups of poppies? Really, I am so happy for you that you have this camera! It is the best toy ever, isn't it? I want one, too! (P.S. Is this camera small enough to carry in the pocket of a jacket while riding a motorcycle?)
Great photos. Not everything has to be funny.
Whoa those are some killer pix.
Yea, you're doomed. Showing too much talent.
I want Saturn's invisible money. If you click on the picture above, it will bring you to my flickr site. If you click on "all sizes" from the list above the picture, you can snag the really huge size. Oh, and I don't restrict my pics, really, if someone can figure out something good to do with them, feel free.
If you click the link in the post, you can see a picture and details of the camera. It's small. About the 4"X2", and about a half inch thick. Fits in a pocket with no problem.
these are some of the most beautiful photos i've seen on OS or anywhere else, and i liked your poem yesterday. still though, for the proper consideration ($$$) i'm perfectly willing to put you on my shunned list:)
er, btw, what does "a good shunning" mean actually? i'm beginning to think i may have confused it with something else:(
HA! Your version has got to be more interesting.
I'm just thinking that the few people that have me on an rss feed will be thinking "why in the crap did I add this woman to my list?"
Hah, the first thing we do, let's get rid of all the MD's. The second, all bad Shakespeare paraphrasists. Third, all the other Docs (Dachs et al; sorry Freaky, Divinity won't save ye.). Then we go after the nuts, (Haha, I'm safe, they chopped mine off long ago) and you T&D, may have to live out the rest of your natural OS days as:
tequilaanddo!

WOOF
I am so impressed with these photos. I am seriously in love with my Nikon P80, a P and S but looks grown up. It has the macro focus as
well, I don't know if I can get these types of shots, or would want to
try for that matter, when I can enjoy these so much.
What's all this talk about shunning?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Flower pictures cause major eyerolling on flickr, so I'm always a little paranoid when I gorge on them. Since getting this camera, I've taken a slew of macro'ed flower pics.
It gets worse when bee season hits, so y'all might want to prepare yourself. I could even toss in a sunset picture. BEWARE
Feeding small children is over rated!
This camera was worth every ounce of starvation.
The photos prove it!
Now you can put a feast on the table and all will be well.
Rated for knowing when it's mama's turn to have a brand new toy!
As a non-member of the non-community I am not non-awed by these. They are veritably flounce-proofing for even the flounciest o flouncers.
tequila and donuts, I have missed you! Have you been here when I have not? First, your pictures are just beautiful, 2nd, I rated this and 3rd, I am going now to read your poetry! Don't believe me do ya? You'll see!
These are really gorgeous and I'm so glad you shared them. What a lovely way to wander around the nursery! You shopliftted their beauty with only digital evidence!
Love seeing this side of you, my friend. No shunning here!
Wow, these are gorgeous! And no DSLR was involved? Might be difficult to convince a jury on that one.
These are beautiful and I am with Saturn on #5...it's my fav. It's not just the camera, you have a great eye for composition.
Those pictures are gorgeous. This camera ought to take great pictures of miniatures, too. Like miniature cakes.
Beautiful! Any camera that can take pictures like this is worth the snatching! :)
where are the droplets, we need droplets
The second one looks like a tiny fish swimming out of an anemone.

And I fully support your new camera. IT is not worthy of YOU! I will coach you throught he guilt of buying art equipment. I have a wheel that I guilted over for about 10 years....
Oh, damn, have I got major macro envy. I think I'll just put away my camera for good now.
Wow. I want to express how good I think these pictures are, but the only things that come to mind are "Windows desktop quality" or "You could put these in a calendar." Yes, I have no soul, but I do really like these pictures.
My poor Olympus is slowly dying so I feel ya. And camera life without macro just isn't worth living.
Drummed off?? You'll probably get your own page!! These are fantastic. If you're an amateur, then I should just shoot myself now. (Not really! Don't think I'm pulling the ultimate flounce people!)
Geez, now I have macro-envy.

And that next to last shot - my first thought was "Whose ass is THAT?? Ewww!!!!"

Then I saw Jane Smithie had the same reaction.

I'm always up for a good shunning. Maybe we could invite Lobodog and C.O. from Flickr.

Thumbed for the macrofication of flowerotica.
absolutely GORGEOUS~ they look like sea creatures ... like they're just waiting for a light current to bring them to motion ... i love you even more now ~ so ha!!!
These are really beautiful and this weekend I am going to figure out if my camera has this mythical macro micro setting so i can try it. (and if it doesn't I will be very very sad)
I don't know what micro/macro whosawhatsits are, but I like the one that looks like shredded cheddar cheese.

Mmm... cheese.

(thumbified for righteous selfishness)
WOW!!!

I like 4 & 5 best. "We" have a new digital camera but I'm not sure I will be allowed to touch it. hehe
Why is this prattle?

Gorgeous.
This post with the gorgeous photos is another reason why I love OS. Not only can you come here and read all types of interesting things, but you also can come here and see photos from amazing photographers -- on all types of subjects.

Thanks, Deven.
Uh oh, yesterday I posted a very bad poem and I have considered putting up some photos. Thanks for the heads up!
Beautiful pictures! I'm going to have to check into one of those nifty cameras for myself. Not that my pictures would look as good as these do... I'm sure some skill was involved, not just a great camera.
Beautiful. Where did you take these photos?
Striking photos! Some of them look like they could be pictures of coral taken underwater.
Is it just because it's Dirty Haiku Thursday or are some of those photos very, very provocative?

Rated for gorgeous colour and a great eye.
Fantastic!!! My absolute favorite is the bright orange spikes with the purple background - what color! What composition!

Of course you realize you're gonna set off the boys with that oddly testicular photo...
Incredible shots! I love me some flowers. Congrats on the new camera. It's obviously in the right hands with the right eye for dramatic. I do flowers all the time in my art and I might have to use a few of these as "models" .....if that's ok. ? TD, these are absolutely great. I had looked at a bunch of your past photos on flickr and they are all wonderful. Please, Please keep sharing! And Georgia O'Keeffe is one of my heroes! Cindy was right...these are very O'Keeffe-esque. Thanks, you made me want to get out in my garden.
I LOVE number 5. You should enable voting on each of these pictures.

I'm hoping for part two with lots of droplets, like patchworkgandolf asked!

Rated!
A picture is worth a thousand bytes.
You're really pushing it, woman. Bad poetry and beautiful photos. Damn you for ruining OS. You might as well post a weight-related essay now. Criminy.

Okay, you know I love you and am totally joking. I'm off to flickr now, just might have to order the big whitish petal. It speaks to me.

LOVE
wow. that sucker takes some damned fine pics. okay, maybe the photog had something to do with it to. seriously, well done.
Gorgeous. I like this kind of abuse.
I love love love your photos!
Every time I try to take fleur fotos the wind is blowing and they come out blurry...or is that flurry...
Your kid can go eat at a neighbor's house a couple nights a week.
You're a fracking artist too? Sheesh is there anything you can't do? Seriously Devon, lovely point of view - interesting focus and composition. You put me to shame.
I want to paint them.
beautiful with stunning detail.
Thank you guys for being so nice.

I should mention that I do use a little bit ::cough:: of post processing.
Hi, i just looked up this camera on Amazon and it doesnt say micro macro in the description ; is there another name for this function? Thanks
Sony calls it "Extreme Macro." It's possible that I made up "Micro Macro" - it's more than possible. I do that all the time. I make up a term for something, use that phrase for so long, that I forget that I just made it up.
Here's a good overview of this camera: www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Sony_Cyber-shot_DSC_T77/
They got you a camera with out micro macro mode? How embarrassing.
Floral pornography!
We LOVE micro macro settings! Kids eat too much any way.
OK, that one second from the bottom, looks like a scrotum. Sorry if someone else already noted that. :)

Gorgeous, gorgeous pics, T&D. My new camera has that setting too, and I've been itching to try it out. Flowers are opening in my garden, so I should get the chance soon. I hope mine come out at least half this well.
you enabler! i want a new camera too!

i saw that you don't restrict your pictures. you're my hero. thanks for being so open with your lovely work!
These are fabulous! I am insanely jealous of your skill. And your camera. I want your mom too.
I am seriously lusting for your camera. What amazing shots! I don't know what that hairy green thing is but I want to be able to take a picture of it, too! No shunning here. Just jealousing. :)
5,8, & 9! You have an eye for color and texture, IMHO. Yowza!
gorgeous! And not a waste of time.
Bad poetry and flower photos...Hmmm I think it's actually Spring!
Thank you for sharing these (oh please let's not have any more snow) photos. They are lovely.
Holy Shistarolli I feel like I just had group sex with a bunch of flowers.
Those were beautiful and amazingly detailed. I don't think you'll get kicked off for it but just to be sure you should take a few pics of Smiley Cyprus for Trig
Simply beautiful, but I've got to know, do the ladies like them.
OMG - will you adopt me? I will gladly give up food to support your habit if I can see beauty like this every day (or even every once in a while).

p.s., tell Mom to go play in the laundry room ;-)
Gorgeous! I can almost smell them.
My "I've got a master's degree in photography" husband approves. And that Bellis makes me very happy!
