But That's Another Story

Little stories that amuse me. But then, I'm easily amused.

"Gen X" mama with goofy New Age sensibilities and, yet, a skeptical mind. Go figure. I grew up in Alabama, went to college in New Orleans, lived in Atlanta, Northern Virginia (DC area), the DC-Baltimore corridor, Wilmington, NC and now Long Island. Phew. Now my bags are unpacked, I live in a magic cottage near the beach with the world's coolest kid, 3 adorable kitties, and...coming soon...the love of my life. But that's another story.

OS - What about a "most commented" category?

Rate: 1 Flag

I saw at the top that we have "most read" and "top rated" but I'd also like to have a list of the most commented blog topics (topics with the highest number of comments).

Anyone else out there feel the same way?

I'll post the first comment...wow, what a great idea!!
I think the problem with this is that some posters tend to comment on their own posts.... A LOT. Like all day long. Like after every comment, or when there hasn't been a comment, or when they want to bump it in the feed. Sometimes their comments can be a ratio of 7:1 or higher. If the poster's comments did not count, then this would be another interesting category. If not, I fear that some people would just repeatedly comment on their own posts to stay at the top of that category.
Yeah, i guess you could pump up your own stats that way. I'd go for an everyone's comments but your owns stat.
How about the Eds giving everyone the option of an "Unrated" to go with the "Rated?" You could only use one or the other, or of course nothing. It's another way of making a comment/statement.
I would be one of the folks that likes to comment on my own posts because I like the exchange with other writers. If someone takes the time to leave a comment, it only seems proper to chat with them or show appreciation. That said, I'll bet the Eds could just as easily omit the poster's comments in the tally as suggested. With that provision I would support such a list.
Yeah, I could go either way with it as sometimes the action is happening in the comments and the author is really keeping the flame alive that way, but if you could get more attention with more comments then, obviously, people would misuse the comments.
