Things I've Been Wondering About

Rate: 8 Flag

If the government can’t do anything right, why do we call 911 when our lives or property is at risk?

When car dealerships tell you “During this sale, no reasonable offer will be refused!” does that mean that after the sale, they will refuse reasonable offers?

Why do my neighbors complain about the cost of fertilizing and watering their lawns and then complain about having to mow the lawn?

If Americans have the best health care in the world, why aren’t we the healthiest people in the world?

When someone asks me to do something at my earliest convenience, what happens if it’s never convenient?

Since SUV’s are not sporty, and offer very little utility, why do we call them SUV’s?

Why do corporations go to the bother of publishing theoretical self adoring mission statements with references to humanity, compassion, and morality when they all have the same one in practice; “Sell More Stuff”?

When people say that illegal aliens do the work that Americans will not do, why won’t they complete the sentence by saying it’s the work that American labor will not do for the wages being offered by wealthy Americans?  And why is it okay for wealthy Americans to buy illegal labor?

Do all Canadians have an Eh-Type personality?

Why do people mock grits but adore polenta?

Fabulous, you are the wonderer! Um, I would think the last one is self explanatory but I guess it's a matter of taste. Thank you.
People mock grits????? I am shocked. I need to get out more.
Funny and true! I love #7 and #8!!!!
Reflecting on health care - many people around the world have health habits that are as bad or even worse than those adopted by people in the United States (instead of Americans - since that includes Central, South, and Canada). But even with the diets of fat and tobacco, who do they have better health statistics?

Answers: With Universal Heath Care, preventative care is more widely available.
And Universal Health Care is not based on the corporate sales model, where they need bigger sales each quarter. The saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" but in the USA, if it ain't broke, we'll run several tests just to make sure - and that helps pay off the investment of the testing equipment.
And I thought that I had an enquiring mind! (I'm going to read your post again, to see if I can answer any question.)
Nope! Would you please make your next list of questions answerable with T or F ?
Or, at least, multiple choice? (I'm better at that type of question.)
Good stuff. PREVENTION - in both care and mindset - is key.

Will better availability of preventive care, even if (BIG IF!) accompanied with a more prevention-minded population, do any good if corn and beef continue to be subsidized to the point where HFCS and saturated fat - two of the most unhealthy things in the world - continue to be some of the cheapest things to procure and put in food?
Huzzah, maybe when we get to Universal Health Care and the government is paying the tab, the government might connect the high cost of corn & sugar subsidies with the high cost of health care and kill two birds with one stone!
People complain about shit so they can get and receive empathy. It's only when they complain about EMPATHY that you have to really watch out.
